This post is in the spirit of intelligence..
two likely possibilities mean potentially very different things:
1) Chi Kung Formulas are exactly what current Tao teachers translate them as..
2) Tao formulas are actually some sort of neuron exercise which could appear to be what the formulas say they are BUT are in fact just neuron exercises that are somewhat ephemeral
The second possibility posits that these formulas are actually practices in adjusting the involuntary nervous system but requires no REAL chi fields or afterlife etc..these would, in this context be seen as illusory artifacts of a primitive understanding of the inbvoluntary nervous system and attempts at adjusting the brain.
Any thoughts?
May 10, 2006 at 12:32 am #13802Greetings,
My guess is that you think that this might all be an illusion to the body and the mind. My advice would be to tell you to go and try it and then come back and tell us. But you may not want to spend your money because it could be worthless. Then try the inner smile, which is free, and return after 2 weeks or so with your experience and tell us if it is reality or illusion.
Smiles,

Nope…no thoughts here! hehe 🙂
May 10, 2006 at 10:06 am #13806weel the facts are that i have done them in progression for seven years and the answer is a muddy maybe inbetween both of these options, in enjoy doing them, no question, love doing them actually, but as to what’s actually occurring, that’s another question entirely.. the subjective mind is a fickle thing, especially when it comes to neurons and biochemicals
May 10, 2006 at 10:47 am #13808Hi Intelligence,
Well in that case, I’ll happily discuss this, it’s an interesting question that requires an interesting answer (I hope mine is!).
I think that this is all scientific, that jing, qi, and shen have a scientific explanation and are what the Daoists say they are. Intent is like an electromotive force that is a “command” and you are doing it all with intent.
Qi is a bio-electromagnetism (electricity from heaven and magnetism from earth), bio-photon current and the sensation is felt as the electromotive force (intent) moves. Qi follows yi. It’s more like a command. We feel the sensation because of the penetration. We penetrate deep in the layers, we feel different sensations. Also, with intent we can variate the colour and sound frequency to feel different qualities. It’s like what Michael calls a communication to the qi field.
As you go past the nerves and receptors (oxytocin, testosterone, etc.) in the skin, muscles, bones, organs, marrow/brain, etc. you can go interdimensional.
Alchemical formulas penetrate into the deepest layers so it is beyond words really. It all has scientific validation but science is still elementary now. There is still some things that are known like the qi fields you said, they are the bio-photon field radiating as seen in Kirlian Photography. I like how Dr. Lin has done considerable research too. Modern physicists are getting there, it’s a wroking progress. I like zero point physics and the field of interconnected vibrating energy.
This can’t be making the illusion in your brain, ie. neuron etc., because there are actual bodily changes taking place.

FajinMay 10, 2006 at 1:04 pm #13810Furthermore, what exactly DO these Formulas say they are?
meaning, what is the overall picture of what is going on AND what history of them do “we” know?
May 10, 2006 at 3:53 pm #13812How do you exercise neurons? Who is exercising neurons? Where am I located? Are you shure where not just a byproduct of basic principals of the universal? Principals of Atoms effecting molecules and so on. Where is your free will in that? Can you effect atoms, if so then where would you be located? How about I take your legs are you still you, or your arms? Well your still alive. How about being a vegetable ling there druiling is it still you? How do you catch a ball? Do you do a bunch of math calculations? Who wants to catch the ball?

May 11, 2006 at 4:13 pm #13816Hi Intelligence,
The formulas say something different to each one of us and they take place differently in each one of us. So, what they say they are to you is just what they are, for you. And the overall picture of what is going on is very widely varied. Their history is deep and long and you can read about it in many places.
But I think there is a better question to ask.
It sounds to me that you are being very moved by practicing them but have reached an internal impasse which is challenging you and that you must now find a way to resolve and go beyond. Your “mind” is questioning what your body is enjoying.
So, I would like to offer you this suggestion. Instead of working on the mental problem of what they are and what they are doing, etc, (which, to me, is a distraction coming from a part of you that may be frightened of letting go of control) why not ask yourself:
“What will having this answer actually give me?”
Good luck,
Alexander -
