This gruesome news story is particularly bizarre because the killer sliced the Abbott’s internal organs, sliced them up, and fried them. Suggests that not only is the general “madness” of this cyclical shift hitting the Chinese, but this guy’s shen were somehow attracted to and needed the vital organs of the abbott.

Man charged with temple killings in China

    Big News Network.com
    Monday 21st August, 2006 (UPI)

Chinese authorities have arrested a suspect in the ax killings of 10 people at a Taoist temple, including the abbot and a 12-year-old boy.

Qui Xinghua, a farmer, was captured when he returned to his rented house in Shaanxi Province during the weekend, the Shanghai Daily reported. He had been on the run for more than a month.

The killings occurred at the Tiewadan Temple in Shaanxi in mid-July. The victims, including one woman, appeared to have been killed as they slept, the report said.

Four of the dead were pilgrims, while the others worked at the temple.

The killer had removed the abbot’s eye balls and had taken out and sliced some of his internal organs, frying them.

Qui reportedly confessed to the crime after his arrest. Police said they did not have a motive.

    >>this guy’s shen were somehow attracted to and needed the vital organs of the abbott.<<

As a matter of fact, because of the importance of the organs in Chinese culture, there is often an obssession with them when madness strikes.

I once read a book called 'China Wakes', by a couple of Western reporters who spent years on the Beijing beat. Amongst many other interesting things they unearthed evidence that during the cultural revolution there was often cannibalism. Authorities such as bourgeois schoolteachers or capitalist pig farmers were often eaten; mostly their organs were removed and eaten one by one by a mob or mob leader.

To this day people still pass people on the street who ate their parents.

So it's not a new phenomenon!
