Hello
what I don’t like of the inner smile… it enforces duality. In a very gentle way tells the organ ‘you are wrong’. ‘I don’t accept you as you are’. ‘You’d better change’.
Tao should be equanimity. Not good nor bad, but ‘what it is’.March 30, 2008 at 7:32 pm #27917Inner smile is ALL about acceptance, allowing the true voice of the organ arise, but you do make space using the healing sounds. Through healing sounds you release the tension in the organs.
Inner smile is just THAT, you smile.
Whenever you smile from your heart you accept WHAT IS.

March 31, 2008 at 3:28 am #27919Hello Sly
I had a friend that was training with me that always also had this feeling of duality when doing the inner smile. She has just joined my new group of people training this system together so it will be nice to see if she changes.
Of course Wendy is right is all about acceptance and letting things change to a possitive states almost by it self.

March 31, 2008 at 6:17 am #27921I know, but
acceptance to me is neutral
Smile is opposite of frown, so still an extreme. Example: I do the frown as suggested by MW, in the book, and the natural getting back is not a smile, but a relaxed … mouth.
Unless the smile is so unperceivable, that doesnt require effort.thanks
March 31, 2008 at 8:11 am #27923It is called ‘inner smile’ so it might be confusing in the beginning where you have to learn to have an actual smile on your face (many people can’t smile inwardly), but gradually it is actually an ‘inner’ smile where your organs respond instantly on your inner ‘acknowledgment’ and ‘acceptance’, without any effort.
After some practice, all you do is closing your eyes, going in and the organs respond immediately. Effortless acceptance.Like you love your child, there is no questioning if the child is ‘good or bad’. You love it and you accept it (being a loving parent), and the child feels that subtle love and acceptance, yet still having its moods and lessons to learn…
Your organs are your children.
Maybe it works better for your mental brain, that likes to create confusing and likes to live in duality, not using the word ‘smile’ and don’t think at it as smile as doing the opposite of frowning, but sit, relax, go in and accept, what greater love can you give yourself than ‘acceptance’. After some practice a gentle ‘unperceivable’ yet loving ‘smile’ will arise at the inside of your face and your mouth.
Just turn the practice around, not DOING the smiling, but allowing the smiling to arise from your organs and body…
It is much more a yin practice, opposite the yang active way of making you smile. You might feel better this way, ALLOWING instead of DOING the inner smile.

March 31, 2008 at 2:49 pm #27927Innersmile brings me often to places forbidden for beginners, like throat, head, forehead. Especially throat, I have energy stuck there. Any suggestion? Thanks
March 31, 2008 at 3:46 pm #27929How can smiling to yourself be ‘forbidden’?
It is the most easy and most profound way of loving yourself.
Who is forbidding you to love yourself? You have to make a distinction between accepting and allowing the smile to arise and forcing with your mind on certain areas.
Again the difference between yin and yang practice. As you figured out by now, my approach is slightly different than the overall male way of teaching. Through the years I modified it for my type of energy, not necessarily for male or female, both genders benefit from it, it depends on your type. One is good with yang practice, I tend to like a more yin approach, my bodies respond better to that.
What I hear from you so far is that you tend to benefit more from a yin approach, if so, you don’t have to worry about the ‘forbidden’ places. Unless you use force.
Try
Center in your lower dantian,
Sink in, expand, stretch your vertebrae gently, stretch your muscles very softly, relax and allow/smile, nothing more or less and feel what happens.
Even the ‘dangerous’ throat area is very okay with that, expand your throat and open your head. The head is stubborn and it will take a while before the head will allow to relax, so be patient with that. The danger comes from forcing… fear creates forcing (keep that in mind).

April 1, 2008 at 3:30 pm #27935A saying I say interenaly, sometimes externaly is “____ is right with my soul”. I take George Bush for example and say “goerge bush is right with my soul” It can help get things moving. You can do “my life is right with my soul”, “this earth is right with my soul”, “my mother is right with my soul”. I was suprised how much curage it took to say somethings. I just sit back and relax and accept what ever comes up after that. Do not us in much now but found it simple, and powerfull. You might like to play wiht it. Hope that helps.
April 1, 2008 at 7:09 pm #27937One thing I like to feel when doing the Inner Smile
is to silently project the following feeling
to each organ area as I visit:“How are you doing? It doesn’t matter how you feel;
I’m just dropping by to say hi and let you know that
I’m there for you, and care for you REGARDLESS of
what you’re feeling right now.”That is, project a feeling of being a loving friend
with unconditional nonjudgemental support. Only you
can determine to what extent you extend these feelings
to a particular organ, but really the underlying
feeling is one of being open, simply listening,
and doing it with unconditional acceptance of whatever
arises.Even though there is no “goal”, tension releases as a consequence.
The relief the organ feels as a consequence of feeling
supported and feeling heard is akin to the smile on the
face of a friend who you’ve compassionately listened to after
they’ve let you know what’s on their mind. This is the true
Inner Smile–the sort of secondary quality of inner acceptance
that occurs simultaneous to the process.Best,
StevenApril 3, 2008 at 12:43 pm #27939Is there also a yin version of the microcosmic orbit?
thanks
April 3, 2008 at 1:24 pm #27941One way of doing the microcosmic orbit that
is less forcing than focusing on points is to
learn the orbit form from QF2. Then after going
through the form, you just sit and allow the orbit
to begin to flow on its own without doing anything.Of course the Wudang method is probably the most
powerful of all, but that is a little more yang
at first when you are first learning it.Given your personality type, I’d probably say
try the orbit form followed by still sitting first.
This is a way of allowing the orbit to happen rather
than directing the flow.Best,
StevenApril 3, 2008 at 2:52 pm #27943Haaa Sly, The Orbit… in the whole HT track my frustration and my quest since 16 years…
People with a yang body/energy have no to minor problems with the orbit.
Those with a yin body/energy seem to have major problems with it.
So I have been working my way through this of how to apply it.For years my body and energy was too yin and I was not able to hold and move the energy inside the body, yet I had a sense of the orbit energetically.
The stronger my body and dantian became, the less I could feel the energy, until I had no sense of it anymore despite trying.
So I was puzzled, I was without doubt stronger in many ways yet I had no feeling of the orbit…
I even stopped teaching the HT system because of it. It was not correct to teach something that was not mine.
Teaching it as a mental understanding and projection was against the heart.
And that is where my key was to be found, the heart, the emperor/emperess of the inner universe.
I started to focus on my strength, my heart.
I listened, learned and worked with it as the central point of my universe.
It is the central station, where everything comes and goes, I do not use the orbit through the two meridians. I am aware of them but it is not my path to work with.
I do not have such yang energy I need this back up system.
Instead I feel and use my heart as a web that feeds my body and my bodies.I have no idea if this is ‘good’, but for me, for my energy and for the person I am this works. I listen, receive, and feed myself through and with my heart.
It is the focus point in my system.
Working from the heart, I connect with my other energy centers, depending on what I want to do. Sexual center, solar plexus, throat, crown, cells, whatever, name it…
It is not what is taught in the HT system but one should apply these techniques on our own energy.Of course there is the danger of overheating, the more yang the more to be carefull using it like that. So again, my way of doing it is not useful for everyone.
I very well know and experienced the overheating, so I learned to connect with the other centers more profoundly, so in that way I do use the orbit, but again somewhat different.
Especially using the sexual center is a good way for me to avoid overheating…. And here it goes into different directions for men and women.
From here it goes into the world of dual cultivation, from here it goes in the world of universal communication.
Which would make it a very long reply to you.
But if you have questions, shoot…
I will try to answer.Wendy
