I thought I should give a little better of a response to Steven on the subject of greed. If you have pure greed often the purely greedy are very adaptive holding to no religious or moral standard. This really allows for a beautiful mirroring of the public demand. This means if the greedy see dolor signs in health and longevity they are just as fine to go in that direction. Of course there are no perfectly greedy people. But in general you see those that are out for money will be very adaptable and thus will reflect the changes in the people for better or worse. This is also the argument allot of conspiracy folks make that there are people doing things not for greed as we assume but out of a desire for control.
October 17, 2008 at 10:37 pm #29367For people primarily interested in money, of course those types will
gravitate to anything (including health/longevity) if profitable–
However, greed at its basic level is about an unsatisfiable “wanting more”.
This concept extends beyond wanting more objects, consumer products, and money–it extends to wanting more power, wanting more control, etc. It’s all about taking from
the outside to fill the hole that that is not being filled within. These types will always exist unless you somehow forced everyone to practice body-centered spirituality–of course such a force would create rigidity by its structure and internal resistance would destroy it. Since these types exist, it is only a matter of time in any sort of ideal community living before their actions negatively influence those around them.October 18, 2008 at 12:07 am #29369Yeah your right my first response was better. I think I meant no morals as a perfect mirror. Like the internet, or this utopia free market people talk about. In a way we do have a free market, people can buy what ever they want as long as they have the money for it and people are selling, it helps if you print the money, but I guess they bought that privilege to.
