Hello everyone
My question is regarding all the practices in general. my question is does all these practices including the inner smile help you in daily life. does they provide you in anyway a better way to function during the day? and if so how? my feeling from practicing these meditations that they give you a break from daily life but still coming back to reality can be overwhelming at times so i wonder does these practices are usefull for modern stressfull life or they are better suited for a monk who lives most of his time in a cave in the mountains?
appreciate your opinions

By practicing regularly you purify yourself. The more you clean yourself out of junk the more happiness there is and less space for feeling overwhelmed. This is an energetic fact not just talk. The practices are non discriminating, they are useful to all at any time even in the worst situations.
If you feel stagnant or unhappy about practicing, remember first not to have any preconcieved expectations and secondly to feel everything you do not just mechanically do it. You might want to mix it up a little and try something you feel more fun or that keeps your interest like the five animals.
Regards.

Yes the practises helps me in my daily life. But it is no micacle cure for all problems. You still feel stressful from time to time and you feel bad feeings and unhappiness and tense musclses and so on. I have been there or is partial there for the moment after some owerwork which is not good for me.
But the thing is the practises helps me come back into balance much faster. When starting my practise on a regular basis I feel the tieredness more easily and I learn to adjust my life according to the feelings. Ower time I am more ballanced and more in harmony.
I´m in a wery stressful period in my life for the moment and I feel that the six healing sounds for instance help me alot to owercome negative emotions and stress. Earlier years I found the inner smile to be my favorite pracice and it helped me alot to feel more relaxed and at inner peace with myself.
I have a program against insomnia that works well, which is particaly based on this system.
I feel also that working with the sexual kung fu toghether with the meditations and some iron shirts makes me quite a radiant person. I often feel wery happy abput life and enjoys life. People around me also feel good.
When you start the practise are new to the practise you will come into contact with alot of old wounds and unhappiness that are stored in the body and in the organs. To be more aware of this feelings might actually feel like you not are gaining anything from your practises! But on the countrary to feel more is the thing to owercome depression and such things in your life. You feel what is stagnant in your inner life and slowly you will get it to loosen up and you will feel much more free. and much more alive.
For the moment I work and travel 2+2 hours in each direction to work many days in the week. I do alot of practise during this travel and without that practise I should not feel comfotable at all with the travel. So the practise helps me wery concreatly within my daily situation.
Keep on practise and the more you learn the methods the more you will gain and sooner or later you will not have any doubt that the practise realy helps you.
I have a yoga group with about six persons in it that has been practisisng with me for about three years. They all feel that the practises realy helps them. Especially when we meet and do the practises together. Then we are more focused and we acumulate more energy together. We are now going back to study again what we did start with for three yaars ago and all the people in the group realy apriciate how much they have learned and see the old practise from another perspective. So easy it is to do and so powerful it realy was. That is a common experience, I have heard form when you go back to your old practises again.
This practises lets you be in contact with your inner feelings. With your emotions stored in the body and you learn to slowly change them to more positve ones. The inner smile realy softens up the organs and then after the practise they radiates positive feelings, especially if you practise it on a daily basis. The six healing sound realy empying the organs from bad energy stored in them during stressful or emotional periods in your life. Then when they are emptied from bad energy you have the posibility to store good energy in them again. It realy has an real efect on your life. The thing is that the methods will be more efective the more you practise. And the atitude you have to your practise also plays a role in how they are working.
You can for instance try this. Try to do some of the practises for 30 minutes each day for three mounths and then feel how your inner feelings is. Any changes? If you not manage everyday, don´t worry there are alot of days coming in a row. Don´t let a missed day without practise let you miss another one, see everyday as a new day where you try to reach your goals. If doing this right you can keep a good atitude towards your practises and then enhance the efect also.
Some of the efects of the practises are hidden for the beginner, it might take a while before you realise what efect it realy has!
Good luck

September 12, 2010 at 5:35 pm #35312thank you both for your input.
as for practicing for half an hour. i can practice this much under guided audio but when i do it by myself it takes me only a few minutes. it usualy takes me around 5 minutes to do the inner smile smiling to all 3 lines. and than i collect the energy at the navel and run it for 1 or two minutes at the microcosmic orbit. afterwhich sometimes i do the standing meditation in the holding the tree position and breath earth energy through the sole of my feet all the way to the crown. all these practices takes together about 10 minutes. afterwhich i feel that i have done alot… the healing sounds i practice at different time during the day in which i do each sound 3 times.
does this kind of practice which i just described can bring any benefit in the long run?
appreciate you replySeptember 13, 2010 at 1:21 am #35314Sounds very good so far, keep it up. Yes the practices you described can bring a lot of benefit. You are doing good by practicing what you have described. You may have just hit a small hurdle to jump over and that is all. The next level to get over the hurdle is to acquire depth to your practice. Depth is feeling the energy.
I will give you two of my own experiences. When I do the six healing sounds my organs feel good. They actually feel different and it is not a mental thing. In the begining when I started practicing it was mostly mental and sure the breathing felt good. But later at a certain point I would do the six healing sounds 9 times each usually facing the right directions and using colors too, sometimes two sets and do Primordial qi gong and some other stuff. It is when I practiced feeling-depth-openess that I really started noticing differences. I felt the energy instead of mechanically just doing it.
I also practice Ocean Breathing, it is when I do it for ten minutes that I can feel it, centered, calm. One time I was doing it during a Tai Chi class and when it was time for push hands I was more centered, I could feel it.
When you acquire the feeling-depth of practicing the energy moves more and changes start to happen. You can start to clean out the negativity and notice that you get overwhelmed less and less. But you have to practice it without expectation and REALLY REALLY F E E L what you are doing, then you will acquire the sensitivity. Good luck hope this helps.

from what you say about developing depth what comes to my mind is that in order to develop it you need to spend more time just observing for instance in the resting period after doing a healing sound. do you agree with this notion?September 14, 2010 at 12:33 pm #35318September 14, 2010 at 3:27 pm #35320Thanx for the reply 🙂

Yes I agree with you. During the ‘resting period’ or the yin part comes about the neutral point to ‘listen’ and feel. Though when doing the yang part the healing sound/exercise you also have depth/intensity by contacting/feeling your organ(s)/qi energy.
In modern society mostly you are taught a part of your brain handles breathing unconciously. But it is more than that, your breath is linked to energy. It is just like any skill though, you have to practice it to get it. Keep practicing.
September 15, 2010 at 11:45 am #35324Hello
I want to add this, but also have to say that it is only my feeling about it for the moment, others might disagree.
I think there is depth in this practises in all parts of it. During all the practise you do all the time there is a possibility to go in deep and to feel more. Consentration but a soft consentration and awarness comes and go during the practise. There more you practise the more easy you will feel into your body and the more easy you will be in contact with your energies and more easy you will learn to feel the different qualities of your different energies. But even when you have learned alot, you will have periods during your practise when you are less aware and less in depth with it. These things doesn´t develope wery linear but comes and go like cycles.
I also want to add this:
Even during the times when you not practise and you are living your daily life, you will have periods of depth and awarness, this awarness in your daily life is wery important I think! The more you practise the more awarness of your energies and yourself and also others and the environment you will develope. That is a realy good thing. Your intuition will also be much stronger if you keep on with your practise, that I have felt myself and also read about.

September 15, 2010 at 5:29 pm #35326September 16, 2010 at 3:38 pm #35328September 16, 2010 at 11:48 pm #35330I would recommend you focus on the process, not so much
on “how much you can accomplish” in a short time. In other
words, I suggest slowing your practice down considerably and
devoting more time to it.Part of the problem of everyday life is the “running around
like a chicken with its head cut off”, fast frenetic pace
of distraction and desire to get things accomplished. You don’t want to carry that into your meditation, and use
that concept to define how you do it. Actually, you want the
opposite. You want to be able to take the “training” you get
in subtle meditation and bring that into your daily life.
Does that make sense?Due to the fast, stressed state that most people live in, they
live in a high frequency beta brain wave activity state. This is
not what you want. You want to be able to live from a state of
lower frequency alpha brain waves. They are characterized by
calm, relaxed, slow, comfortable energies in the body, as well as
one in which the brain is not in fast chatter. But if you only spend 10 minutes in meditation, and during that
time you zip through several different things, so that you can
“accomplish” a lot, what are you accomplishing? Do you know what I mean?
Doing that, you are really not slowing your brain down enough OR
spending enough time in meditation to get down into solid
alpha wave activity. But it is that state that you want to get
comfortable and familiar with, so that over time you will live
from that state in your everyday waking life. And it doesn’t mean you need to give up your regular life and become
a monk to do this. Even doing 30 minutes daily is fantastic.
But it requires reframing what you consider practice to be about.
So that’s where I recommend you start your investigation; by asking
yourself what you hope “to get” from meditation. If it is
indeed in altering your everyday existence, then in a counter-intuitive
way, being efficient and doing a lot is the exact opposite of what you want.Just some food for thought,
StevenSeptember 17, 2010 at 3:55 am #35332Hello Steven
I like what you write, but I want to add one thing.
It might be dificult to counsiously decide to practise more and then
following it!I read a good thing about this. And it is more or less directed to beginners, but I think it also is wery apropriate for people that have been practising for long time.
Start your practise with 3 minutes, but do it each day. If after a longer period of time you like it then add a few minutes and so on… Some day you might naturally have achived a state where you practise alot and enjoys it!
That is different from I want to go to beta state and then decide to do alot of practise, say 30 minutes a day. Then your decision is from the beta stressful state and might not stay with you wery long time.

September 17, 2010 at 1:26 pm #35334>>>It might be dificult to counsiously decide to practise
>>>more and then following it!My comments are not just about “practicing more”.
Suppose you set aside 30 minutes, but in that time you
zip through 2 forms and 4-5 meditations. What are you
really accomplishing? Are you really going to an “altered
place” to help change your life, or are you really just
adding on another chore on your “to-do” list of everyday life;
just more check-boxes you can check off? 15 minutes
of slow deliberate, relaxed, process-oriented meditation would
be worth more than the 30 minute goal-oriented type.>>>Start your practise with 3 minutes, but do it each day.
>>>If after a longer period of time you like it then add a
>>>few minutes and so on… Some day you might naturally have
>>>achived a state where you practise alot and enjoys it!This is a fine way to develop a habit if you have trouble
establishing a routine, but to start to notice significant
changes you are going to need more than 3 minutes. Also,
in reality, 30 minutes is really not very long. Consider
how much time most people burn up surfing the web or watching TV
or doing some other “distractive” activity. It depends
here on attitude. If you view meditation/qigong/etc. as
something “you should do”, then it will feel like yet another chore;
just one more thing in an “overwhelming list” of things you
feel you have to do each day. When you couple that with
the idea that you aren’t getting any work/task done during
that devoted time, it is only natural to end up dropping it
in short order to “free up” more time to do other things.
IF, on the other hand, you view it as a delight, a daily
guilty pleasure akin to eating a bowl of ice cream, then
you won’t drop it or have trouble finding time to do it.
If anything, it will be something you look forward to doing.Ultimately, we all spend our time doing things we “want to do”
(or maybe better, what we “think we want”). Any reasons
for doing the things we do, are simply that: reasons.
They are just cute little logical mental stories that
make us feel good about what we are doing.I suggest taking a step back and taking a look . . .
I mean REALLY TAKING A LOOK
at where we spend the bulk of our time in our lives.
And then ask . . . SERIOUSLY ask . . . what it is serving.I think most people would be shocked by the results of this exercise.
