Hello all,
If I practice QG Fundamentals 3/4, does it completely replace Iron Shirt I,II,III as taught by M.Chia or are there still specific benefits I can receive from these practices? What is your experience?
I am not sure whether Iron Shirt practices were part of One Cloud 1st formula because they seem to be originated from Shaolin martial arts.Does anyone know what were the grounding practices taught by the master of M.Chia?
Thanks,
milletMay 30, 2011 at 9:14 am #37442M. Chia had many teachers and
assembled all knowledge into what is
known as the Universal Healing Tao today.
In particular, the Iron Shirt practices
came from other teachers, not One Cloud. As to what grounding practices (if any) came from
One Cloud, that is unknown . . . but most
of the Iron Shirt came from other teachers,
and not necessarily the same teacher either. In Michael’s vision of Healing Tao, he
selected pieces of Iron Shirt I-III, as well
as some Yiquan he learned from a Chinese medical
doctor, as well as some other supportive qigong,
and as well as some breathing techniques he
picked up elsewhere and formed the QF3&4 course
(so in particular the QF3&4 course contains material
not found in Iron Shirt I-III).Since he only selected pieces of Iron Shirt I-III
to fit his vision, it does *not* completely replace
the Iron Shirt I-III sequence. Whether or not
you feel you can benefit from the Iron Shirt I-III courses,
really depends on you and what your needs and desires are.
If you feel you get enough grounding, fascia & tendon
work, and marrow washing from the practices from
QF3&4, then it is not essential to do Iron Shirt I-III.
On the other hand, if you would like to go deeper into
these practices for your own reasons, then you
will have a ton more material to play with if you
do that sequence. In short, it really depends on what you want.
Best,
