Hello Everyone
i would like to know your opinion about using chi for protection. often times i notice after practicing internal qigong (such as the inner smile, and basic qigong practices by M. Winn) that i become much more sensitive to the going on around me and that people’s missbehaviour or inconsideration affects me more strongly and generates alot of anger.
i would like to know if there is a way to use the accumilated chi to create a shield or a field which would protect me from negative energy evoked by other people’s behavior?
thanks

wrapping your body in a cocoon of golden light. It is
a meditation designed to strengthen one’s boundaries. However, your situation is also an issue of not being
grounded and centered in your being. If you do enough
grounding practices (i.e. QF3&4), then even while noticing
crazy behavior from others, it doesn’t affect you in
the slightest bit. This, in some ways, is a better approach,
as it keeps you interacting with others, without
misidentifying their stuff as yours. The idea of needing protection is a fear-based response,
and is really a symptom of a larger problem on a personal level.
Fix that, and you won’t feel you need protection from anything.Best,

i lately had a feeling for practicing fundementals 3&4 thank you for guidance.
one question though, you mentioned the practice of fusion 2. question is why this kind of meditation is used in an advanced step such as fusion 2 and not before? since i know i have to resolve some personal issue i’d prefer not to engage in high level practices so i’ll take your advice on fundementals 3&4.
peace and chiSeptember 10, 2011 at 11:09 am #37805Steven’s right, grounding is crucial. I can’t feel the full benefit of my practice until I get grounded, real grounded. Then it doesn’t matter much how people are, sometimes I find their previously irritating junk quite amusing. When I find myself hyper-responding to humanity I know I need to work more on grounding, and I have to really WORK at getting grounded. Good to hear that someone else feels very sensitive from this practice. Grounding helps me use that sensitivity to change my life.
September 11, 2011 at 1:20 pm #37807I only mentioned the Fusion 2 meditation because I
was unsure of your background, and that is the one
that is typically thought of as being “protective”.However, 99.9% of the time . . . issues relating to
oversensitivity to outside things and influences . . .
is really an issue with not being grounded.
This is why the grounding material comes much earlier,
i.e. QF3&4 (or Iron Shirt 1 in M.Chia’s system).
Put simply, it is much more important. And, if you get grounded enough, you don’t need anything else.

YoavNovember 1, 2011 at 7:06 pm #37813This is why I said “if you get grounded enough” ๐
Being grounded isn’t a yes-or-no question;
i.e. after getting grounded, you can always get *more* grounded. ๐
This latter part comes from doing a lot of practice, doing it regularly
each day, and having the effects become cumulative over time.Hard to explain; you just have to experience it.
Best wishes to your practice,
Steven -
