Hello,
I think it is on the Fundamentals 4 Bone Breathing and Rooting where Michael mentions that he healed his own kidneys/adrenals by using a “packing method.” I was wondering if this is the same method taught in the video that comes with Fundamentals 3-4 where he is laying on his back and breathing into the lower dan tien and then exhaling into the point between the kidneys?
If so, does this have to be done on your back, or can one do it sitting or even standing?
If not, what is the technique Michael used?
Thanks!
WTPJuly 15, 2013 at 2:25 pm #40997He is basically talking about “reverse breathing”.
This method is discussed on the QF3 audio set.Dantian-mingmen breathing can be done in either
natural breathing or reverse breathing format
depending on what you are trying to achieve.S

July 16, 2013 at 8:32 am #41001I’m also guessing that Michael discovered the Iron Shirt packing method and went nuts with it. In his article “The Gentle, Easy Way to Pack Your Iron Shirt,” he talks about how he started popping blood vessels in his chest because he packed so forcefully. I know they teach Iron Shirt differently now and don’t emphasize the packing. From what I understand, the reverse breathing method is much safer and are still a form of gentle “packing.”
July 17, 2013 at 1:42 pm #41003Reverse breathing (as in QF3), done correctly, is a safe way to charge the kidneys.
Separate from that:
The qi packing method from Iron Shirt 1–for reasons you mention, as well
as others–I think is a dangerous method. I do not teach it when I teach
Iron Shirt 1.In any case, some time after the Iron Shirt 1 book was written, Master Chia
came out with a new method for doing qi packing, and formed a whole course
around it. It is called “Tan Tien Qigong”. It makes the dangerous
IS1 technique obsolete. Once you learn the qi packing method from
Tan Tien Qigong . . . in my opinion there is no reason to ever use the
IS1 method.S
