Steven
In the first bathing sequence on Michael’s DVD, he raises the chi ball from his waist so that it surrounds the sun. He then exhales his body/mind into the sun and inhales the new energy of the sun into the chi ball.
The chi ball then releases this energy and Michael bathes down the body with the chi coming out of the palms. Note that there’s no suggestion that the chi ball itself is moving down the body with the hands. it seems to be still up at the sun.
When Michael reaches his feet, he empties his body/mind into the centre of the earth. No chi ball is involved. He then bathes up the body and when he reaches his waist the chi ball suddenly reappears enabling the sequence to begin again!
I find this rather confusing. How does the chi ball get from the sun to the waist? Why isn’t it involved in the bathing? I ask these questions as in one of your posts during a previous exchange on DHQ you said
You are washing the body in both directions with qi from your hands (or qi ball depending on approach)…
which makes me think there may be an alternative where the chi ball is involved in the bathing itself.
Any clarification greatly appreciated!
January 18, 2015 at 7:45 pm #43781You’re right; there is.
There is a slightly higher-level octave of the same practice that is done in the Greatest K&L course that uses the qi ball in the bathing. On the DVD, there is a small mistake where he mixes in the other version into the bathing description. For the purposes of the DVD, simply imagine that you are washing your body with qi and forget about the qi ball.
I go into this and other issues surrounding DHQ in more detail in the upcoming DHQ course at Michael’s summer retreats.

January 19, 2015 at 5:31 am #43783Thanks, Steven.
Glad to know there’s a good reason for my confusion.
For the purposes of discussion, let’s divide bathing into 2 parts: (a) Body Bathing – hands move down from crown to feet, and from feet to waist (b) Reaching – reach from waist to sun, dissolve and return to crown; reach from feet to centre of the earth, dissolve and return to feet.
It seems to me that there are three options with regard to bathing.
(1) The chi ball is involved neither in Reaching nor in Body Bathing
(2) The chi ball is involved in both Reaching and Body Bathing
(3) The chi ball is involved in Reaching but not Body Bathing(3) is what we get on the DVD. However, the chi ball is only involved in reaching up to the sun. It’s not involved in reaching down to the centre of the earth. But in the instructions accompanying the DVD, the chi ball is involved both in reaching up to the sun and down to the centre of the earth. Further confusion!
Are you saying that Greatest K&L uses (2)? And are you saying that, if one’s not doing Greatest K&L, one should use (1)?

Yes>>>And are you saying that, if one’s not doing Greatest K&L,
>>>one should use (1)?If one only knows the DVD, then yes.
I will teach a different approach in my summer course that expands on the DVD, that doesn’t necessarily use Greatest K&L.S
January 19, 2015 at 6:46 am #43787At one point in the bathing section of the DVD, Michael talks about emptying the “whole contents of your body/mind” into the sun.
Can you clarify exactly what’s being emptied. Is it only one’s mind and energy body or also one’s physical body.
If it’s also the physical body, how does it reach the sun? And if the mind, the energy body and the physical body have all emptied into the sun, why is there any need to subsequently bathe the body?
This makes me wonder whether perhaps one is just emptying one’s mind and energy body into the sun and subsequently bathing the physical body which is, so to speak, waiting patiently back on earth.
Again, any clarification most welcome.
January 19, 2015 at 7:03 am #43789Thanks. I currently only have the DVD. Perhaps I’ll make it to your summer course!
January 19, 2015 at 7:31 am #43791Thanks.
Save up all your questions and bring them to the course. ๐Sorry for being terse, but the volume of emails I get daily from people that ask Healing Tao questions–wanting detailed answers–keeps growing exponentially. I simply do not have the kind of time to answer them all in detail and still have time for my own life. ๐
It’s not a lack of interest in answering the questions; it’s a lack of free time.
Hope you understand.S

Entirely understand.
Furthermore, let me say that your contribution to the forum has been stellar. You happily answer a wide variety of questions fully and precisely. Generous and impressive.
Of course, when word gets out, this leads to more people asking more questions. And I can quite see why answering them all has become unsustainable.
I’m extremely grateful for your responses to my questions. I’ve learned a very great deal from them.

January 19, 2015 at 9:19 pm #43795Thanks for your kind words.
Hopefully you have now become passionate about the practices, and it will become a consistent integral part of your life, if it has not already. ๐Thanks for the concerto.
Keep practicing,
StevenFebruary 1, 2015 at 8:39 pm #43797So, I essentially use the egg as a microcosm of my life/auric field and imagine that when I’m breathing in, the egg is being received into my lower dan tien to my formless “self” to be rebirthed, and when I’m breathing out, the egg goes into the heart of the sun/earth to the sun/earth’s formless “self” to be rebirthed, so basically the egg is with me the whole practice, expanding to the infinite unknown and contracting to the infinite unkown.
