Hello all,
I feel like I’ve been regressing quite a bit since I started working with the deep channels. Mainly I’ve just been practicing along the video, doing the sequence of collecting and fusing the 5 shen, 8 extras qigong, and pangu. It has a very powerful, blissful effect for me. But since starting it I’m having a lot of painful emotions coming up, plus classic detox symptoms – fatigue, brain fog, depression, etc. Quite possibly this has nothing to do with these practices, but it’s persisted over a few weeks now and I’m wondering if I should back off the deep channel work. Is there any reason to think the deep channel practices would trigger a protracted detox experience of this kind and, if so, what is the best strategy to work through it?
cheers,
elephantJune 5, 2016 at 10:05 pm #46675Hi elephant,
It sounds to me like you have a lot of toxic junk buried deep within your 8 Extra channel network. This isn’t unusual, and in fact, most people have this. In fact, most people have A LOT of this. You can work on the 8 Extra channel network for years and still find stuff, because you are going deep into the infrastructure. However, in the beginning, there can be so much there that it can be overwhelming as you clear this out. That’s what this is sounding like to me. As you clear this out, you are getting a detox/healing crisis.
I see no reason why you would necessarily need to stop (since you’ve already begun the process), but at the same time, I’d recommend that you back off and not do so much of it. Instead, replace that time with more time on:
1. Grounding work (to help weather the detox from a neutral vantage point and to reduce geting caught in the sea of emotions), such as Deep Earth Pulsing and any Standing Meditation you might know (e.g. QF4 Yiquan Standing-in-stillness or other Yiquan standing sets, IS1)
2. All of the preceding foundational “safe” detox and balancing methods, such as Inner Smile, Six Healing Sounds, Microcosmic Orbit, and Fusion 1.By reducing the amount of the 8 extras work, you will have a less severe reaction, and the other foundational work that I mentioned will help to alleviate symptoms and make you feel more normal. If, nonetheless, it feels too overwhelming at some point, you do have permission ๐ to take a break from the 8 extra practices until you feel safe and ready to continue.
Best,
StevenJune 6, 2016 at 4:17 am #46677I am surprised even after 11 months of healing sounds of how much can they help. Particularly with prevention of /energy blocks/crisis/emotional inbalance/etc. and or relief after some or all of it has happened. The only times they didn’t help me when I wasn’t grounded, so now I combine them with grounding.
Also maybe trying to put attention to what do you need to learn/change. Because with energy work comes change of habits/character/or something else/ so you can live with that energy flow and deeper meaning. This can be very helpful with the flow of energy, but also sometimes its a mental trap. Sometimes its just what it is without deeper meaning ๐
I am very happy that we are sharing our journeys and can’t wait to get to the fusions.June 6, 2016 at 7:16 am #46679I have gone trough some weird stuff recently too. It kicked out at autumn last year. It looked as various health issues …, but now it seems cleared up slowly.
Working with the organs and 8 extras dig out some buried stuff “down” there …
Thank you for sharing guys … ๐
June 6, 2016 at 9:51 am #46681Exactly.
One never outgrows the need for the foundational material.
10, 20, 30, years and more down the road, you will still get benefit from the Inner Smile, Six Healing Sounds, Microcosmic Orbit, and Grounding Practices. They are a useful support system. Stuff will always come up; it is the nature of life.S
June 6, 2016 at 10:54 am #46683Thanks Steven. On the fusion 2/3 audio Michael explains deep earth pulsing as a deep channel practice in the sense that one is pumping earth chi into the extensions of the leg channels that go to the center of the earth (if I understand him). I also understand DEP as a grounding practice. I guess my question is: if my immediate goal is to moderate the rate at which I’m clearing the 8 extras, am I supporting that goal by practicing DEP?

June 6, 2016 at 7:58 pm #46687It’s true that you are getting some activation with the bridge and regulator channels when you do DEP. However, it is not likely to create a detox reaction unless you overdo it. The reason is that qi from the Earth is very stabilizing. Moreover, the earth is where you want your toxic qi to go to. Consequently, as qi from the Earth comes in, if it breaks any blockages, it is likely you will end up providing a pathway for a good bit of it to simply vacate down into the earth through the empty channel connecting to the earth below the blockage. So it is not likely to aggravate anything, unless you are doing an excess amount of it. If you do small amounts, it is likely to instead be supportive.
Ultimately I still maintain that standing meditation is the optimal method for grounding, and overall stabilization. Best choices, in my opinion, are the Yiquan Standing Meditation set (that I teach, not in MW coursework) and IS1. These would be my favored choices. However, I assume you know neither. ๐ So let’s say you do the QF4 Yiquan Standing-in-Stillness postures. Then, in my opinion, if you are using these standing postures for grounding purposes, I recommend you DON’T do the bone-breathing aspect. Just focus on your breathing in your lower dantian, and as thoughts arise, let them go. In particular, if your bones want to detox, let them do it on their own without any extra assistance at this stage. If you are already detoxing in other ways, you don’t want to force extra detox on. You can do that bit at a different time when you are not dealing with a separate detox/healing crisis. In my opinion and recommendation.
Qi,
StevenJune 7, 2016 at 10:36 am #46689Another foundation is having some folks around who can help out when you get stuck. Many thanks for your advice and support!
June 8, 2016 at 9:49 am #46691Has anyone read Mantak Chia’s Fusion 2 and 3 books (Cosmic Fusion and Fusion of the Eight Psychic Channels)? Are they worth the read?
June 8, 2016 at 9:45 pm #46693Personally I have been focusing on MW’s home study courses, but sometimes I do get the corresponding Mantak Chia book in hopes that I could get a more structured conceptual framework for the material in the home study courses. What I have most often found is that the material in MC’s books is so very different from what Michael is teaching that it is hard to integrate the two of them. Most recently I have been looking into Fusion of the Eight Psychic Channels and again it almost seems to be an entirely separate body of technique. At my (beginner) stage of practice, I need bite-sized pieces of practice material that I can chew and digest. So, for me, getting a rather radically different presentation of the practices has not been particularly helpful. At some point I will likely be more interested in examining and understanding the different approaches, but not yet.
June 10, 2016 at 2:02 am #46695If anyone interested to research different approaches, Eric Yudelove theaches fusion in his Taoist Yoga and Sexual energy book and there is also variation of Fusion of eight trigrams meditation in Daoist internal alchemy book by Jerry Alan Jonson.
There is also variation of Fusion I learned from Barry, as he says it is more physical.
It would be interesting to disscus this variations here.
Best, Jox … ๐
