It seems that Mantak Chias esoteric encylopedia is causing me some confusion. First, its supposed to be “esoteric” while at the same time its now open knowledge. How does this make sense?
Does it have to do something with not advetising the books? So only people find them who have that hunger to understand them? I dont know. I think if someone was given awaken healing light, transform stress and chi self massage, a book on sex and a video covering all the basics, they just might figure it out? What do you think?
Imagine a taoist starter kit being advertised on an infomercial, “3 books and a video for the $69.99, get it while the offer lasts! Now you can reach immortality, enlightenment and eternal bliss for three easy installments of $23.33! The best investment you will make in this lifetime or any others, overcome karma and save the universe! The power is in your hands!”
🙂
While “esoteric” can mean “private” or “secret” or “understood by only a chosen few” .. I think its truer meaning has to do with “inner” teachings as contrasted to “outer” (exoteric) teachings.
Exoteric teachings advise about the outside “do good deeds”, “be virtuous and patient”, and so on. Esoteric teachings advise about what is happening internally, one’s inner alchemy and the meditative process. Exoteric and esoteric correspond to each other, are interwoven, support each other.
