Note: Many have asked me for a good astrologer. I’m listing 2 at the end of this letter, one doing Chinese 4-Pillars, the other Taoist-Vedic alchemical readings. Plus an essay on whether Astrology is actually useful to one’s life. Is it just information one is helpless to change?
Myself, I use Chinese astrology extensively, both in diagnosis for healing, and in dating (juicy details below! :). If I thought my destiny was controlled by astrology, I wouldn’t bother writing about it. It’s just the opposite. We decide how our astrology plays out. – Michael
Inside Chi Flows Naturally:
Photo: White Metal Rabbits practice Tai Chi push-hands. Don’t be fooled by the soft fur. The loser may be bloodied.
Dear Lovers of the Taoist Lunar Cycles of Change,
Feb. 3, 2011 marked the beginning of the Female Golden-White Rabbit Year. Both Gold and White are traditionally used to describe the alchemical purity of the metal element, which in Chinese is not just any metal, as “jin” signifies gold. Being born a Yin Golden Rabbit myself, I am an authority on this topic, having studied Metal Rabbit-hood for my entire life.
I began this 2011 Rabbit Year at sunrise, with three qigong rituals: Tai Chi for Enlightenment, Shamanic Star Stepping Big Dipper Qigong, and Deep Healing Qigong. I do a triple ceremony at VERY significant times, like Winter and Summer Solstice. I’m constantly figuring how new ways to make qigong even more powerful, and I had some breakthroughs on this as a result of writing my book on the Wu Ji Gong (Primordial Tai Chi) form.
This lunar New Year of the Golden Rabbit is only happening once in the next 60 years. So I let the Life Force know that I take its cycles seriously, and am aligning myself with the natural, inexorable, power surge that happens at its key nodal points. Staying in harmony with nature’s cycles is THE Taoist key to long life. I plan to be around for the next Golden Rabbit New year in 2071. By then, I will be sending out this newsletter by direct telepathy.
Timing your qigong practice is more important than knowing the technical astrology details. The right timing can amplify the power of your practice one hundred fold. I got a HUGE download from my triple ceremony, which i digested afterwards with several hours of internal alchemy meditation. I asked for the essence of the entire upcoming year to be downloaded at once. It was so intense I wasn’t sure exactly who I was afterwards. So everyone gets a new year, but I also got a new identity, a new energetic assemblage point. That was my goal – to change myself internally before the outer changes hit hard. Mission accomplished. Thank you, new moon birthing the Golden Female Rabbit!
All three qigong ceremonies embrace, in different ways, phases of the lunar calendar. The Moon as a mirror for earth changes is also the historical foundation of the I Ching (Book of Unchanging Changes) and thus of Chinese culture itself, which is lunar-based. That’s why it is so grounded and earthy. I changed the starting direction of my three qigong ceremonies to East to reflect the change of season. Energetically, Spring begins its expansion now, and will be in full flow by the time of Spring Equinox on March 21.
Many medieval European nations used to start their New Year in the spring. It seems Jan. 1 was borrowed from the day ancient Romans would install newly appointed Consuls, and that came back into modern favor. But that’s only in the West. Since half the world’s population is in Asia, there was a huge surge of Chi on the lunar new year.
I could especially feel the chi surge on Feb. 3 in my qigong ceremonies, and I gathered the chi from this “people power” in my meditation practice. I also captured the western chi surge on Dec. 31 at midnight. People are part of the chi flow of Nature. In internal alchemy, the spiritual science of change, timing is everything. And you use everything in your life as the raw fuel for transformation.
The Rabbit is the zodiac animal that symbolizes alchemy and healing, so it may not be an accident that I ended up becoming both. Sometimes you see the Cat substituted for Rabbit, but a cat’s yang energetic nature (tiger family) is totally different from the underground Yin Wood Rabbit. Let me clear up this confusion. In North Vietnam, which used to be a province of China, the cat takes the place of the rabbit. The Chinese character 卯 for the Rabbit sounds like (mão or mẻow); the word “mèo” is cat in Vietnamese. Therefore, cat was used in Vietnam as the fourth zodiac sign instead of Rabbit.
Another interesting distinction was made by top Taoist astrologer Susan Levitt, in her excellent book,Taoist Astrology:
Although translations from the Chinese often render Hare as Rabbit, hares differ in many distinct ways from rabbits. Rabbits are born naked and blind, whereas hares are born with a coat of fur and good vision. Hares run faster than rabbits and do not freeze when confronted by danger. Hares symbolize long life, as do cranes and turtles.
I have some fun photos of Alice’s Rabbit Hole waiting for you. But first allow me to update you on some other happenings coming up.

To all Lovers of Spiritual Adventure,
Which way will you hop in this Year of the Rabbit?
I was born a Rabbit, so I’ve never stopped hopping. Maybe that had something to do with my visiting 100 countries. But travel to new parts of China remains my current fascination, especially when I uncover new Taoist jewels.
The May 2011 China Dream Trip is a very special trip, going to two new mountains in Eastern China that are amongst the most beautiful in China, including the rarely visited Three Pure Ones Mountain. Plus time in the 1500 year old Golden Flower Taoist temple and its nearby caves where the Immortal Huang achieved himself. You’lll love the chi!
The full information and 30 photos previewing this extraordinary adventure in China is at:

Even if you are just THINKING of coming in 2011, please let me know. I have to book spaces in advance, and this is based on maximum possible attendance.
I am happy to finance Dream Trippers with extended payments plans customized to YOUR pocketbook. Don’t let money stop you!
Sharing this China adventure is one of my greatest pleasures. This year’s group will be smaller and intimate. The friendships made here will last a lifetime.

STAR ALCHEMY Spring Equinox Retreat
Sealing of the Five Body Spirits
Description of One Cloud’s Alchemy Formulas: www.healingdao.com/tao_alchemy_formulas.html
This unifies the five shen, the five streams of personal consciousness that operate through our senses, with the five forces of the collective Stellar Self (Over Soul). The body of our stellar mind can be viewed as the four quadrants of fixed stars in the night sky, originally symbolized by heraldic animals (Black Turtle, Red Phoenix, Green Dragon, White Tiger).
The fifth, the quintessence, is the Purple Pole Star in the center of the sky, with the Great Bear of the Big Dipper marking the progression of the seasons as its handles rotates like the arm of a cosmic clock. These personal and stellar essences are fused in the upper dantian, the cauldron in the head. This is the process of our Inner Sage attaining the stellar logos, celestial level of immortality.
The pure open space connecting the three cauldrons is integrated. This stabilizes the celestial axis and activates what Lao Tzu calls the “Great Tone” (music of the spheres). Profound peace and different spiritual qualities continuously manifest from this activated core and radiate sonically into our physical becoming. Our soul pattern expands its conscious destiny to include dimensions of life beyond the physical plane.
Prerequisite: Planetary & Soul Alchemy (Greatest Kan & Li), live or homestudy

Very powerful tools for working on yourself, and centering the energy body. Course is mostly meditation, plus “Nourish the Five Shen” Qigong for emotional body. Pre-req: Fundamentals 1 & 2, live or audio-video. Good to have Fundamentals 3 & 4 if possible, the rooting is key to managing emotions.

April 30 – May 1, 2011 (Sat-Sun): Asheville, N.C.
FUSION of the FIVE ELEMENTS 2 & 3.
Open the Macro Orbit: 8 Extraordinary Vessels
Open the Macro-Cosmic Orbit by linking chi flow in the Eight Extraordinary (“psychic”) channels. These channels link your pre-natal and post-natal energy bodies, i.e. the deep structure of how you birth yourself each flowing moment. Learn to purify your aura & regulate your Energy Body with belt & thrusting channels. Give to and Receive chi from the environment with Positive & Negative Arm & Leg channels.
The 8 Extra Vessels connect the inner and outer chi field, and allow you to “dance” between your inner and outer life. The Wudang Mountain version of the macro-cosmic orbit will also be taught as the most powerful internal method I’ve found for integrating the 8 Extraordinary Vessels into a continuous flowing circuit.
The macro-orbit is the foundation for opening chi flow to 8 Original Forces of Universe (I Ching trigram-tones). Powerful “8 Extraordinary Vessels” qigong form makes this practice simple to remember. It heals deep psychic imbalances not reached by acupuncture. Many mysterious and chronic illnesses can be healed at the level, much faster than using acupuncture or herbs.
Another new practice taught is my recently developed “9 Spirals of the Energy Body” in the four directions to integrate the Five Shen with the Five Directional Dragons. This practice connects the internal flow of your macro-cosmic orbit out to the edge of the universe – and back! A wonderfully empowering and healing journey.
This course lays a strong foundation for Healing Love and Water & Fire (Kan & Li) Alchemy.
Pre-req: Fusion 1, live or by homestudy. Learning the energy channel work of Fusion 2/3 without doing the emotional body/inner pearl work of Fusion 1 is also possible, but not optimal. Email me first.

Inner Smile + Stem Cell Qigong
This evening is really an opportunity for YOU to feel Mantak Chia’s energy while he is simultaneously teaching you how to feel your own Chi. Mantak has been teaching Westerners about their Chi for over 35 years, so he knows his stuff very, very well. It will be a fun, relaxing, and deeply energizing evening, a chance to find out about Tao, the Natural Way, from a famous Taoist master.
The Inner Smile is a Taoist meditation made famous by the Healing Tao. Everyone already knows how to smile, but not everyone knows how to connect their Soul to their smile and put it to work in your life and to heal your body.
When the Inner Smile is connected to Taoist Breathing and Stem Cell Qigong practices, it becomes a very potent combination to open up our core power center in the belly, bones, and vital organs. Mantak Chia is very experimental, and knows countless versions of the Inner Smile. But one he is likely to share is his integration of Inner Smile with what is known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). Stem Cell Qigong targets raising the vibrational frequency of the parts of the body that generate stem cells. Instead of paying for a stem cell transplant, this qigong offers a low tech way to stimulate growth of new stem cells. The strategy here is: Don’t heal your old body, rather grow a new body that is healthier.
Mantak will share his lifelong passion for the vast range of Taoist practices and answer questions you may have about this path. That may encompass healing, martial arts, Taoist meditation and notions of immortality.
He will be assisted by his friend, chief editor of his first 7 books, co-author of some, and supporter of 30 years, Michael Winn, who lives in Asheville. this is Mantak’s first visit since he last presented at a Sufi Healing Conference at Blue Ridge Assembly 15 years ago.

The Truth about Metal Rabbits
Now, about the Rabbit Year itself. Let me start by dis-abusing you of the common myths about this Rabbit Year, which I’ve read in many commentaries: that Rabbits are soft, gentle creatures, classy and refined, clever and diplomatic, but a bit weak and hence prone to retiring quietly into their home, after the vigors of the Golden Tiger Year that just passed.
People who have never had a rabbit as a pet generally misunderstand how tough they are, even while being so soft and pliable. I have had two pet rabbits, and both were incredibly stubborn, and would bite or butt with their heads rather fiercely if they were not happy. And both were masters of Yin Passive Resistance. They ALWAYS got their way. This was a great teaching for my (occasionally) controlling male side.
Hares are prone to growth spurts during Rabbit Years. I am predicting large numbers of giant rabbits will be visiting those who are in deep resistance to the energies of the Female Golden Rabbit. Respect her, or risk a thumping and humping like you never imagined was possible. Call it Tough Love. Alice in Wonderland’s experience with White Rabbit is a REAL story…..and parts of it are scary.
Two points about this particular Rabbit Year.
One, Metal (hence the Golden-White Color) Rabbits are different than the others. They have metal strength inside them, a lresilient and tough spine. They are Warrior Rabbits. Think of the Tai Chi image, “steel wrapped in cotton”. Soft and cuddly on the outside, but metal inside. They are very tricky fighters, master of illusion and false feint. Rabbits escape their predators with “broken fiield running”, amazing zig-zags and acrobatic airplane turns in mid-air.
Two, we must keep in mind the Macro cycle of Time we are in. There are BIG planetary shifts in consciousness happening. Yin Golden Rabbit is an Alchemist par excellent. This is a year for refining the shift in collective consciousness. The Rabbit can assist us in cultivating those skills. This is no time to retire to family life and sit around the living room to play with the kids. This is time to go deep inside our “personal rabbit hole”, our inner cauldron or inner earth, and COOK the essence of what is happening.
Chinese Myths About Rabbits and the Moon
This brings us to the major myth in Chiina connecting Rabbits to alchemy and the changing Moon phases. Depicted above is a Ming dynasty seal of a Rabbit on the Moon, mixing up a potent Immortality brew, with a Cassia Tree behind. Here’s the story:
The story takes place around 2170 B.C. At that time, the earth had ten suns circling it, each taking its turn to illuminate to the earth. But one day all ten suns appeared together, scorching the earth with their heat. The earth was saved by a strong archer named Hou Yi. He succeeded in shooting down nine of the suns. Unfortunately, he grew tyrannical. One day, Hou Yi stole the elixir of life from a goddess.
His beautiful wife Chang E drank the elixir of life in order to save the people from her husband’s tyrannical rule. After drinking it, she found herself floating and flew all they way to the moon. Hou Yi loved his divinely beautiful wife so much, he refused to shoot down the moon. She is still up there, with an Alchemist Hare at her side preparing more Elixir for worthy mortals. The Cassia Tree is the symbol of the Rabbit’s healing powers. It self-heals itself so quickly, no matter how fast you chop it down, implying an immortal spirit of life.
Interestingly, this Rabbit-Moon theme is found in other cultures, notably Mexico (work of .Prof. R. F. Dietrich):
Alchemical Myth of the Jade Rabbit
Three fairy sages transformed themselves into pitiful old men. They begged for something to eat from a fox, a monkey and a rabbit. The fox and monkey both had food to give the old men, but the rabbit was empty-handed. He offered his own flesh instead by jumping into a blazing fire to cook himself. The sages were so touched by the rabbit’s sacrifice that they let him live in the Moon Palace where he became the “Jade Rabbit”, forever stirring the Elixir of Immortality for worthy humans aspiring to the Way.
These Moon Rabbit myths highlight how the moon’s waxing and waning defines the Chinese lunar calendar, Chinese philosophy, aesthetics, and the value on peaceful, gentle and friendly attitudes that elucidate the spirit of Chinese culture. Moon light as an elixir or Pearl portrays the immortal spirit of life. It holds a mysterious wisdom hidden within the yin-yang fluctuations of its ever-changing phases.
First, let’s note a few famous Rabbits, notable for their traditional Chinese characteristics. Rabbit years: 1903, 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011.
Famous people born in the Year Of The Rabbit, and their most distinct qualities:
Albert Einstein (brilliant inventive mind), Confucius (very wise), Frank Sinatra, Rudolph Nureyev, Orson Welles, Francis Ford Coppola (very artistic), Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet (very sensuous), and Tiger Woods (loves to fondle other Rabbits).
Metal Rabbits include Helena Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Society (visionary and iconoclast); St. Joan of Arc, who battled for the downtrodden. Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice in Wonderland, is perhaps the quintessential Golden Rabbit.
Rabbit is Yin Wood in nature, so it loves it’s own inner space. Wood is creativity & growth. Rabbits live uunderground. Carroll loved Imagination itself, and was a pioneer in taking it underground with Alice in Wonderland. He was a mathematician on LSD, and a kind of literary alchemist who allowed his imagination to go exploring where others feared to tread.
True Confession: Alice Liddell, the real life little girl and model for Alice in Wonderland, is a cousin of mine (my Mother is a Liddell). I think I’ve been getting a family lineage transmission….not sure how else to account for my naturally alchemical imagination.
The Cosmic Rabbit Hole of 2011: Where does it lead? Right: Alice forgot to take the small White Pill before diving into the hole, to the dismay of the bunny who lives there…..Her Pill was known to Taoists as the Elxiir or Immortal Pill that allows one to shift dimensions at will. This Rabbit Year opens that portal for the human collective, but not everyone is brave enough to follow Alice down that Rabbit Hole.
Why DID Alice go down the rabbit hole? To get to the Other Side. The other side of WHAT? Of her imagination, silly you should even ask.
“Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast!”- Alice
Alice in Wonderland is the kind of dimensional reality shifts that Humanity will soon be facing. Those who have already experimented with LSD will have a head start in grasping the immensity of the spiritual shift and how it can change ordinary, stable, physical perception of reality into something very vibrant, creative and elastic.
For some, the speeded up vibrations that are coming in daily will ultimately feel like a “bad trip”, like they are losing control. The truth is, we don’t currently control most of our perceptions – our subconscious, i.e.. our 12 vital organ and bowel spirits – do. Our 12 personal “animal spirits” are a direct manifestation of the greater 12 Animals Spirits of the Zodiac. They are what give astrology its inside track on the cycles of change in our reality.
After I finished my qigong ceremonies embracing the Chi of the incoming year, I asked the I Ching for a general overview of the Rabbit Year that would be useful to my readers. I got hexagram 63, Fire below Water, Already Crossing.
Hexagram 63 is the copulation of Yang and Yin, and certainly a theme for Rabbits, who love to copulate and have only a one month gestation cycle – 30 days to birth a litter! One more reason why Rabbits are linked to the 28 day Moon cycles.
How appropriate to get hexagram 63! It is the coupling of male and female energies in a stable alchemical pattern. This is spiritual sex, meaning fast, deep changes and a collective rebirth is coming in 2011. The hexagram is central to One Cloud’s Tao Inner Alchemy formulas, especially the Lesser, Greater, and Greatest Enlightenment of Water and Fire. (to read more on these formulas, which Healing Tao recently re-organized from 7 to 9 formulas: https://michaelwinnv5.qlogictechnologies.com/one_clouds_nine_tao_alchemy_formulas.html)
I have even designed a Kan & Li Hexagram 63 T-shirt (above on left), which you can order to support this year’s alchemical process. (Icode MTS07 at https://michaelwinnv5.qlogictechnologies.com/cgi-bin/prod_list.pl?ptype=4). I find wearing this T-shirt, perhaps my favorite n my entire collection, sends a message to my subconscious: stay centered in your True E ssence. The hexagram is urging us: “Stay in your true inner process” and “set things right”. That there is danger (Water) all around us, but within we are safe if we stay humble (below water) and true to our (inner Fire) Self.
In my reading, the 5th line changed, to hexagram 36, Brightness Hiding, Earth above, Fire below. Again, a rabbit theme: Take your spiritulal light and go down inside your burrow deep within Mother Earth until the danger passes. This is a warning, that big Macro changes could be happening, and we need to be very grounded to handle them. It suggests we mus face the Demon Country (Underworld) on our journey to the center of our True Earth. So I expect more dark tihings to be emerging as the vibration of the planet Earth is raised.
A lot of Chinese astrologers are predicting a Rabbit Year return to peaceful negotiation and diplomacy instead of revolution and war.
Here’s an elegant summary of the Rabbit’s peaceful nature, resulting in this year’s prediction:
The Dragon year that follows will be a wild and exhausting time, so enjoy this Hare year as an opportunity for relaxation, pleasure, family gatherings, entertainment, and comfortable travel. Expect political compromise and diplomatic peacemaking on a global level. The good news is that the focus of this Hare year will be on more exposure to the arts and culture, getting our financial house in order, cultivating intimate relationships, and building family and community.
However, I think we need to go one step further and examine the big picture for Metal Year rabbits. Checking Wikipedia, I see that there were plenty of wars and revolutions in Metal Rabbit years, going back a few hundred years. 1951 had the Korean war and the deployment of the Hydrogen Bomb.
We essentially have the same energetic struggle on the elemental level that we had in 2010 Year of Golden Male Tiger. Tiger and Rabbit are both wood creatures, both in a Metal year, which “self-cuts” its inner Wood. So the same tension is there, made a little softer because we are in a Yin-Female Metal instead of a Yang-Male Metal phase. And the Rabbit is pure Wood, with less fire than the Tiger. So it will be a little smoother on that count. But I don’t expect a global love-in.
Industries that will likely flourish under these influences include finance, energy, especially alternative energy, entertainment, commodities like metals and agricultural products, mining, shipping, transportation, and hotels.
Industries that will continue to struggle include media, newspapers, magazines, forestry, and textiles. Environmental protection may have to defer to economic priorities. Because of the inward focus on the Rabbit, domestic agendas at home may supersede international concerns and undermine our habit of playing Big Brother internationally.
The single biggest danger from Rabbit “stay at home” tendencies is the possible rise of Protectionism by various governments. That is what prolonged the Great Depression for many years longer than was necessary.
Currency: paper money will continue to be cut by Metal. That means the dollar will suffer on its long slow path of decline.
Gold/ Metal dominance still bodes well for investors in Gold. But consider other metals as well: uranium, platinum are in a stealth expansion phase. Last year, Gold was one of the top performing sectors of the economy,it may cool a bit in a yin metal year. Metal years are about finding True Value, and that means something that cannot be debased by politicians. So all commodities fit that description of “real-ness”.
Property will stay the same or struggle to only slightly improve in value. In USA, north-eastern states should recover faster than others. Wood element businesses are still being cut by Metal: logging, home building and construction companies will all have a difficult year.
The banking industry, computer and chip companies, transportation and manufacturing plants with machinery, bio-tech medicine, acupuncture, surgerical business, nano-tech and nuclear, wind turbines, solar, LED lighting and micro electronics may improve as they are metal element businesses.
It is a problematic year for health, particularly for those with weakened immune or respiratory system. Many will suffer trouble with their lungs, intestinal system and skin rashes. Problems with air pollution and sandstorms, increased allergic reactions or asthma.
Metal years also bring an increased concern about justice and support for the underdog. Rabbits are noted for their compassion and their protecting the underdog. But expect unions and collective bargaining (wood = “we'”) to come under the chopping influence of Metal (= “me”). Since government unions and pensions are inflating the public debt, this cut back may gain momentum this year.
Let’s discuss the nature and value of astrology itself. For many, it seems too abstract, a symbol world they can not easily relate. I used to fall into this category…and even though I suspected astrology had SOME truth, it wasn’t practical enough for MY trruth.
It was only my years of studying and embodying Taoist cycle theory that I realized astrology HAD to hold deep truth. Where else were the cycles of astrology coming from, if not from Nature? I had a Chinese astrologer do my chart with my fiance Joyce Gayheart….then put it in a drawer. 20 years later, after we’d been married and she’d passed on, I found my notes….and it was shockingly accurate.
I began using Chinese astrology regularly to show my clients how their five phase (5 organ spirits) constitution was affecting their disease or mental health…and it speeded up their comprehension that their illness was at least in part karmic, and not their fault. AND that they could change the pattern with the right energetic tools.
Astrology is just a symbolic star-organ map to help you navigate some important choices you are facing.
Astrology doesn’t tell you what to do or what will happen. You cannot lose your Free Will given to you by Tao. Two people born at the same moment, in the same hospital, will have very different fates. Different individual Wills responding to identical forces.
Astrology CAN show you the hidden fences buried deep in your psyche and how to avoid tripping on them or being UN-consciously guided by them.
Since my wife passed 3 years ago, I’m still waiting to be chosen by the right woman seeking a Spiritual Love Partnership and Conscious Conception (parenthood). Since I’ve found it challenging to attract a woman seeking both of these at the same time in the same way that I want them, I’ve used astrology to speed up the process of sorting through the probabilities. For example, I’ve found that women with weak water element are often ambivalent about having kids. With good reason – it will further challenge their kidney/reproductive system. Or it could be ancestral water issues. 5-phase theory is multi-dimensional.
I also began looking at charts of women I was dating, to see if offered accurate predictors of the energetic nature of our relationship. I was not using it to predict the success of our love or destiny, which properly belongs in the domain of free will. You can learn to love anyone. But why love someone that requires huge struggle? That’s a reason to rely upon soul attraction rather than simple sexual attraction. Picking the right partner requires conditional love. I’m a picky Rabbit, which are famous for their good taste and desire for romance. But as an alchemical Rabbit,I need a partnerwho loves self-transformation. Those tendencies can partly divined from astrology.
Golden Rabbits are also known for their trust worthiness and perseverance. That’s about staying with a committment, once you’ve picked. That is when unconditional love is required.
Did Chinese astrology accurately capture the quality of how we expressed and/or exchanged love with each other? The answer was a CLEAR YES, Chinese astrology is accurate, amazingly so. (If you want to test my prognostication skill by dating me, please hit reply….an easy way to get a free reading. 🙂

Soon, I will post Mantak Chia’s 5 Elements Health Report (only $29 . for 40 page report), It will have tons of practical recommendations for things you can do to change your 5 elements balance, including diet.
Because our vital organ spirits are directly linked to the zodiac cycles of change, the best astrologers are people who have practical methods to help you shift your vital organ spirits into greater balance and harmony. So Astrologers who understand the power of Qigong and Taoist meditation, and combine it with their tehnical skill, are the best in my opinion.

Two Good Professional Astrologers
David Twicken charges $250. for a full hour Chinese 4 Pillars reading, and it is well worth it. David teaches Chinese medicine and qigong, has studied all of One Cloud’s internal alchemy formulas, and many different Chinese astrology systems. You can reach him (in Los Angeles) at David@HealingQi.com. He is a very busy guy, When you leave him a message, tell him your friend Michael Winn sent you, with Rabbit blessings.
The other interesting astrologer I recommend Is Patrick MacLeod, who is currently in Virginia. He also studied all of One Cloud’s formulas with me, went on the China Dream Trip, which further inspired him to alchemically mix Taoist and Vedic astrology into a wonderful new creation. Patrick is highly intuitive and ingenius at digging out your essence from a chart. He charges $200. for a full reading and has a newsletter Ren Ming Gong (Skill in Knowing Human Destiny). Here is an article by Patrick on the utility of astrology.
Strike While the Iron is Hot. (The Iron is Always Hot.)
by Patrick MacLeod
Opportunity is a beautiful thing. Everyone loves opportunities, because everyone has desires; and opportunities can be said to exist or arise when our circumstances come into harmony with our desires. This harmonic convergence we call an “opportunity” to experience any one of an infinite number of things. We can desire a job, and have the opportunity for a successful interview. We can desire something sweet to eat, and lo-and-behold, our neighbor has just set her fresh baked apple pie out on her windowsill to cool, and foolishly turned her back! Now THAT is an opportunity!
A good astrologer will never cease emphasizing that astrology is not about proclaiming certainties, but about understanding opportunities. Now, taking advantage of opportunities always requires ACTION. But it may not always be obvious what action is required in order to take advantage of an opportunity or WHEN that action should be taken. How many of us have realized years or even DECADES later that actions taken long ago have resulted in our being sometimes perfectly and sometimes impossibly placed to take advantage of present opportunities?
No one can be conscious of ALL the possible beneficial or detrimental consequences of one’s present actions. But that doesn’t mean we can’t take PERFECT ACTION every time. The key is to use intuition. Intuition is related to the Moon, the human capacity for unconscious receptivity, and is our human experience of total resonance with all reality. To follow our intuition perfectly is to be lead to act in the BEST possible manner WITHOUT consciously knowing why. But this requires perfect adherence to the spontaneous promptings of our intuition. Is that always easy? Well…
Following the inner guidance of intuition may be easy or difficult depending on how successfully we have each cultivated the purity of our true essence. How is the level of purity of our true essence revealed? It is revealed in the content of our desires.
What is a desire? It is a felt pressure for manifestation of something. What is the origin of this pressure? How can it be anything but our own intentions? Our intentions set our desires in motion and our desires wait like horses at the starting line of a race, waiting for an opportunity to leap into action.
So we all have desires and we all wait for opportunities. But what about times when opportunities seem scarce, on nonexistent, for accomplishing anything? I’m ready to strike when the iron is hot!” you say; “But somehow the iron always seems cold…”
I have felt this way at times. But this feeling that circumstances offers us no good opportunity for achieving anything worthwhile is an illusion.
The truth is… the iron is always hot.
Many people feel like victims of insufficient opportunity. But in reality most are victims of insufficient desire. Every moment is bursting, overflowing wih an opportunity to achieve something profound, but if one has not expanded and refined one’s desires, opportunities go unrecognized and wasted because the appropriate desires were not cultivated beforehand.
I will give two examples of this:
First, Intuition is not the only expression of one’s harmonic resonance with reality’s totality. We also have the Golden Rule: Do to others what you would have done to you. If you would like to be the recipient of generosity, cultivate that by being generous yourself. If you would like to be respected by all, respect all yourself, so you can come into resonance with that world, that reality, where everyone is respecting everyone else.
If reality is not giving you want you want, it is probably giving you the opportunity to give someone else what you want. You may be asking for help, and you are not getting exactly the help you have been asking for. But look around. Is there someone asking for your help who you have been ignoring? When we need help, the opportunity to help someone else is a blessing, as it opens the door to resonate with that place in the world, and in our own heart, where people-in general-are helped.
Likewise, have you ever been forced by circumstances to sit and do nothing? Truly nothing? You feel that it is totally boring. Yet this moment of non-activity can be greeted as a true blessing if your heart has learned how to love and truly appreciate peace, quiet, and stillness. Even better if you can absorb the silence and stillness, storing it inside you, to counterbalance the external cacophony and movement which is sure to be experienced later.
Intuition is always there to guide us towards the fulfillment of our desires, be they the high spiritual desire for desire-less service and transcendent unity or temporary, mundane worldly desires. Whether the fulfillment of our desires turns out in the end to have been a good idea, well…that is another story…
But the iron, truly, is always hot. Sometimes hot to know pleasure, sometimes hot to know silence, sometimes hot to know a small pain so that a much bigger pain may be avoided in the future. Astrology is often about recognizing when opportunities arise. But in it’s most refined form, astrology is about recognizing that all situations hold abundant and equal opportunity for achieving one’s true destiny.
