In Japanese no gender but characters do have images which give a distinctive feeling
or flavor to words:

The full name is 美利堅　(beautiful: gain/profit: hard/firm)
and is pronounced to sound like mei-ri-ka.

The only thing I can grasp is that
because the blue marbles (1,2,3,4)
are whole and the points are decimals
that there is no fixed relationship
