Sorry for your loss, perfectearth. Glad to hear that the meditation helped you. Keep sticking with your body, it’ll help you through these times. As they say, “Delusion can’t follow you into the body.”
Hi Laura,

Hey David!
I hope you’re not still having those nightmares.
I can’t explain your night terrors in a Taoist sense as I’m still a beginner in qigong, but I did learn a few things about dreams from lucid dream teachers Charlie Morley and Andrew Holecek – both wrote several great books if you’re interested for deep explorations into this topic.
First of all I’d just like to say, wow, what an incredible invitation you received! “It’s time to meet the real you!” That is awesome!!! You must have been doing a lot of work on yourself lately to get that kind of invitation from your subconscious or whoever sent it. As for the terror that came with it, I would optimistically say that it may just have been fear of the unknown, of the shadow side of yourself. However, (Charley Morley has a whole book on this) integrating the shadow makes you much more powerful and much more yourself.
I would say this is a great opportunity for growth. Terrifying, but maybe that terror is just an entrance ritual, a gatekeeper – are you ready? Do you really want to know yourself?
If so, I would say make a Dream Plan. Get out a sheet of paper and some pens. Write down what actions you’ll take in the dream next time one of these nightmares comes, and what results those actions will have. Then, briefly draw a picture of this process. If you don’t like drawing, just make some nice stick figures.
This process may sound silly, but it worked for me, especially in conjunction with recording my dreams daily in a dream journal. My life now is unrecognizable from my life before dreamwork. I met and married my wife, moved to another country, and next week I’m starting a new job – this is the first time in 10 years I’ve been excited about a new career path.
I’m no expert in dreamwork either, but those are a few things I’ve learned that might help. Good luck!
