Very inspiring to see progress and how closely you are attuning to the body. Also this practice is the most challenging for me. There is something that is happening as I practice Tao Yin and do the lumbar exercises and then the tendon stretching while seated that teaches me a lot.
When I do stand I can find the tendon connection more easily. I agree, it is the shoulders that cry out. I am curious about this. I personally link it to the reality that when I do sink into the form and the pain passes I am stronger and more vulnerable.
What I mean is these pains appear as messages of protection warning me not to open to much and so my strategy has become to not force this. Not force false strength on myself. But do as you are doing, constantly scanning and listening.
Congrats on reaching your personal goal! barry~
November 26, 2009 at 8:28 pm #32601HI Adel,
I spent 5 months practicing in Thailand. I did have netting around my bed and that was essential for any well being so I could also keep windows and doors all open.
I found, and this is me and my sleep rhythms, that going to sleep when the buggers are just up and about, under the netting, and then rising after midnight to practice. I had the beauty of a deck, the ocean and stars to accompany me but chi kung is all about using the natural forces. When I returned to bed, sometimes hours and hours later, the buggers would have woken and I climbed back into the netting until my day began. It is a good way to teach yourself a dream practice too as you will be very open and charged from the night air.
The humidity and overall heat of the day didn’t inspire me as much as the night for sitting or standing or moving practices. DH after all are asleep is so healing as can be most of the forms in the timeless night. But I am naturally a hermit and love the calm of the starry skies for company. Barry~
November 26, 2009 at 8:16 pm #32624I love Steven’s clarity. You go Steven!!
I have one thing to add that works for me and that is the use of the spiral- maybe what you mean by diffuse waves- and not so much the straight energies.
Breathing in the testicles AND the penis too is something Barry Spendlove taught me.
There is something about the spiral that matches the frequencies of the tissue itself and the ring muscles chi is moving through. It also allows me to blossom open into the living heart that is pulsating and I wonder is a straight line really natural or more mental? Barry
November 26, 2009 at 8:08 pm #32695These are yin and yang ways of gathering and circulating energies. They both sound very effective for you. If it is about healing then the question is what is the nature of the imbalance. The ball approach as you describe it feels very fiery and could move stagnant cold energies. While the lack of compression method may embrace the excess heat and transform that imbalance.
Most of the time I do not know what is being healed but a Dog says to just intend and see where the chi/yi takes you. It is wonderful to not get stuck in just one strategy but allow creative cultivation to come and grow you.
And anytime my sexual energy is in a heated state all frequencies are raised and many times not helpful…but hard to resist. So to speak. barry

November 6, 2009 at 9:17 pm #32498Way in another planet from mine but I love the graphics, the Escher, and the baseball.
November 6, 2009 at 9:12 pm #32551Medicine will be about changing disturbed information…what a great sentence. We are living beings…wow…what a shocker! One we are all constantly learning and listening…great link…I guess it is a promo for something not out yet?
November 6, 2009 at 9:04 pm #32524Wow I see what you mean about suffering from too much but it certainly isn’t as cramped as Michael’s whose site makes my head hurt.
What is missing for me right away is your picture. You are in the Chinese ones but there is no focal point of a person to relate too, who these words are rising from and somehow it is the look in the eyes that settles the Yi of a searcher and if it is a good fit the look back will resonate.
Otherwise I love the colors and organization. And of course the rotating bagua…tell me what to do master….hypnotizing….barry
November 6, 2009 at 8:54 pm #32513congrats…must feel good….both this and the 1000, and to see yourself grow…
April 27, 2008 at 4:30 am #28186Hi guys,
It seems to me since this is both an external breathing method and an internal intentional energetic process the rib cage has to lift for the diaphragm to rop and the breath to come in!
Though as the process sinks in I do find the focus going more into the tan tien that Dog suggests so it isnt just an external willful doing. Barry
March 11, 2008 at 5:21 am #27787I find myself somewhere between Jernej and M’s and V’s suggestions. I love to create theater and at its core is ovarian testicle breathing. Working the heart and kidneys too. They are very cautious it seems about pulling too much on the lower chakra—perineum and anal pullups so as not to awaken the kundalini prematurely.
It seems with slow breath and inner circulation this would not happen so violently. Have you ever had issues around this Michael? I know sexual practices are after rooting and fusion in the formula and yet this is the practice people seem most interested in. No wonder…but any cautions to offer? Barry
March 5, 2008 at 5:49 am #27765he speaks about it in the greater kan and li’s in reference to connecting to the earth. It seems to be in its best context there as the work is integrating the earth into your own center. then the changes to come whatever they are find a resonant field in our own psyches. At least that is the work….barry
December 29, 2007 at 9:23 pm #26731Hi Steven,
Since practice is the only way to sustain the formulas I appreciate your taking the time for retreat.
Reading your accounts I have the sudden recognition how you made it a bit easier for me and in extension for all of us.
As if no matter what the obstacles we encounter that appear to be so personal and subjective how we respond affects the collective. Perhaps the first strata are we who are experimenting out of the same workbook- knowing what you are attempting- but perhaps i would hope it extends into the earth and heavens and throughout this particular time into others.
It is untraceable but that resonance only makes sense.
Another fascinating observation is when I stop a particular practice in favor of another my mind pesters me to return or even makes the practice I am up to “better” than the one before. inevitably I return and my practice has been enhanced. it always seems like magic. As if the practices connect to some underground well with many access points.
The well is always enriched and so enriches and we are all part of it. Thanks again, barry

December 25, 2007 at 10:39 am #26716Hi Chris,
Yeah what a year…whew… it continues as I go to Thailand to support a Yoga Teacher training this winter/spring. There for 6 months. Then back to Heavenly mountain. Perhaps I will meet you this year.
How are you doing with the kan and li? Have you been practicing? Perhaps better over e-mail but I am interested in how you are integrating. Stay well my snowy friend…barry
