I am simply saying that I value a greater degree of free will – the ability to shape what i observe.
The degree of free will and ability are always there. I question the necessity. Beside the price of a 7 day retreat.

The claim is basically a judgement – that everything except what I do/teach is “impure”.
it’s a dead end – and belongs in the tawdry category of “my lineage is the best”, better get on my path.
Sure, anything we say is a personal judgement. And the idea of being is the best or the most integrated is not my invention on this forum. As for…[Read more]

Max replied to the topic The Danger of "Letting Go" as an only practice in the forum Practice 18 years, 9 months ago
This is just one example that neither proves nor disproves anything. To apply that kind of reasoning of ‘letting go’, Chia was forced to ‘let go’ a lot of things to his wife after the divorce. My point is there are a lot of underlying reasons for things happening, and just because some teacher ‘failed’ in the eyes of others doesn’t mean he did.…[Read more]

I agree with what you said about ego.
Regarding going into deepest layers of your energy patterns, the process of inner observation overtime will accomplish the same. -
Max replied to the topic What is 'letting go'? in the forum General 18 years, 9 months ago
For me letting go is allowing the processes to happen on their own. You observe them without emotional attachment or desire to direct them the way you feel necessary. You don’t control them nor they control you- this is a the process of unconditional acceptence and trust that innate and wise ability of your Life force will do everything neccesary…[Read more]

Keith, you are right. But this type of conversations can’t take place for now. Go to the bookstore on the site and see what is being sold- after all the fancy talk about incorrect information and dangers of forced breathing. For those who are too dense to get it, I’m reffering to the original male sex book and iron shirt related merchandise.

“It seems like Buddhist/Hinduist external to internal.”
It only seems that way. There are many pathways within Buddhist traditions with many different methods. There are only few that teach exactly what Buddha tought. Burma, and probably Laos are 2 of a few places that still have true Buddha teachings. You can also read ‘Diamond Sutra’ that…[Read more]

“To be fair, it should also be pointed out that there are some teachers of the Taoist arts who warn that the mental manipulation of internal energies, channels, etc. is a dead-end. Their emphasis, beyond embodying desired attributes of virtue and morality, is to simply rest awareness in the body, initially in the lower Dantian, and allow the…[Read more]

<<< I really don’t think breath retention is a good idea because it
puts strain on the lungs and adrenal glands in the long run and although this method is simple, if you stop the practice after a while, your lungs will deflate like a tire and you could get serious problems.>>>If you do it correctly the way it is taught, there will be no side…[Read more]

I got the information from you Michael, and not just once. But my memory could be faiding, or could be yours. David Shen has nothing to do with kan&Li but has something to do with your breathing practice, isn’t it?
And I don’t mind if you critique Nan Huai-Chin. I smile every time I remember you said the reason Buddha talked about suffering is…[Read more]

Look closer. It was said created, not made up. Based on all the sources available at the time. Does it mean it’s not effective? No, it doesn’t. Is it much different from the alchemical principles cultivated at that time? No, it’s not. Is Chia/Winn’s Kan & Li in disagreement with later taoist texts? No, in fact, the formulas reflect the…[Read more]

All the cold chi trapped in the bones during your life time is released through meditation. You have to sit through it and it’s a very good thing. Eventually it will stop.

I think the way I expressed myself looked like I said: ‘Unlike you, I do this and this and this…’. I didn’t mean it this way. I just wanted to share my personal view, and I’m glad I can talk to someone who is interested in this sort of thing.
The advanced stage of martial arts wouldn’t differ much from internal cultivation/ qi breathing. etc.…[Read more]

Thank you for your thoughtful reply.
I’m also interested in this kind of training, although I look at this practice more from ‘Inside to Outside’ sort thing. I wouldn’t like to separate spiritual cultivation and internal martial arts as two things complementing each other. I see it more like one thing coming out of the other- that is through…[Read more]

Stick with Dr. Lin’s techniques, if you care about effective practical applications. Winn covers a whole different side of it that Lin doesn’t.
Erle Montaigue is a very nice man. I find that Pier Tsui-Po has some interesting things to teach, although I would use a different internal system to develop the internal skills. What’s tantric lama kung fu?
