I am a beginner myself, but I have few months of practice behind. My take on this is that only by practicing you can find the answers to these questions. And keep a journal so you don’t forget because of everyday life.

My take: I like Abraham Hicks description of what is negative emotion. According to them it is a difference of the desire and wellbeing your inner being and what is happening (or what are you thinking, observing etc.). Thank you for the detailed reply rideforever! I just want to point out that there is a Qi Gong technique called Sung breathing that is very similar to Vipassana.

For me the animal frolics is the going deep practice. But I believe its about what you have more affinity for makes it deeper. Also I found that doing frolics one day and sounds the next makes it easier to push through and get deeper.

Well I am not too disciplined. Its around 3 times a week of Five animals do the healing sounds and another 3 for the healing sounds alone. But when I do the animals it takes me hour or hour and a half (it comes naturally to them this long, not like I’m forcing it). I learned from the home study course.
