Here are the first two core channel nei-gung practices I use in order too develop the 8 trigram seed energies with in my Ba Gua Zhang practice. This works on your deep core energies so that the trigram energies start to come alive and grow in the form work and meditative practice. In order to ensure that you don’t burn yourself out energetically I highlt recommend that you don’t use these techniques unless you have a strong grounding field energy. something that will ground the excess energy out so it doen’t burn out your system. Also when first starting these do not practice more than a few times each, so that you don’t over do it and cause an emotional release or other such reaction from blasting energy into your system.
1) Heaven= On the exhale use your intension to move the energy up the core channel and out of the top of the head threw the thousand meeting place. Push you energy out of the head so that the top of your Qi-field pushes against the downward pressure of the Qi-field of the sky.
On the Inhale let the Qi drop back down through the thousand meeting place into the central channel and drop through the three Tan Tiens, depositing a little heaven Qi at each cauldron.
Do this several times but always do it in conjunction with the next exercise so that you ground the Qi back out.
2) Earth= On the exhale use your Intension to move the energy of the central channel down threw the point between the genitals and the anus, the peraneium, and also through the bubbeling well point in the bottom of the foot. Use your intension to move your Qi field downward to press against the Qi field of the Earth.
On the inhale allow your Qi to bounce back up through the same points and up threw the three Tan Tiens depositing a little bit of Earth Qi in each cauldron.
I have to go to work now but will give you the next two later on when I get done teaching my classes. Let me Know what you think.
February 7, 2009 at 6:32 pm #30496OK so I gave the first two exercies for developing the “seed” energies of the 8 trigrams within the central core energy channel; now I will give the next two.
3) Wind= After you have developed heaven and earth energies, now it is time to combine them into various expressions of those energies coupling together. This means that all the other 6 trigramal energy patterns will include both the upward movement of heaven, and the downward movement of earth. This vertical movement up and down will always express itself through the thousand meeting place, and through the point between the anus and genitals, at the level of the perenium.
On the exhale use your intention to create a simultaneus upward and downward motion with in the central core channel, moving the energy out through bai hui(thousand meeting place), and hui yin(perenial point between anus and genitals). At the same time begin to spiral the upward and downward movement to the left along the axis of the central core channel. This is like a barber pole except it goes up and down and spirals in one direction all at the same time. As you reach the end of the exhale let the QI bounce back into the central channel spiraling in the opposite direction as it goes. Like pulling a retractable window blind and letting it roll back up.
This expanding up and down and then spiraling in one direction, then letting the energy spiral back in the opposite direction as it compresses back into the core channel, builds a spiraling wind energy in the chong mai. This will then, like the axis of a wheal turning the wheal itself, the dai mai will be activated and begin to spin. Since this is nei gung it works from the core outward. Begining the movements deep within and expressing them outward.
After you have done this a few times spiraling to the left, then reverse it and do the same exercise but spiral to the right as you expand upward and downward. When you have finished one side see if you can hold the spiraling QI movement within the core channel before moving to the next side. If you can’t keep it there try the 3 Tan Tiens. Eventually you want to be able to send this spiraling QI out to any point or channel in the body.
You should only practice this a few time at first. Eventually all the Ba Gua Nei Gung exercises should be practiced in 8’s.
4) Thunder = On the exhale expand the QI in the central core channel upward, downward, and outward in all other directions. This will create a bubble or egg of QI around you. When the expansion can go no further then compress back on the inhale into the central core channel from all directions. Only do this a few times at first; eventually moving up to 8 reps.
After you have the movement and sequence down see if at the apex of the outward expansions, and innward compressions if you can get the Qi field to vibrate. This vibrating is key to getting the Thunder energy, since Thunder is a vibrational energy this vibrating must become palpable to the practitioner. Remember Thunder is a yang explosion with yin reverberations so it must include this vibrational expression both in your QI field and in your core channel or chong mai.
I can’t really go any farther than this since the upper 4 trigramal energies are more difficult and really need supervision or a teacher to make sure you are doing it right and that you are ready for the transformations they can bring. It is upper level work and should only be attempted if you have prepared your system with lots of serious grounding energy work. I would be glad to discuss this stuff in a more private atmoshere but I don’t feel comfortable revealing them in a public forum.
If you decide you like this work I will say that it manifests best when using Ba Gua circle walking techniques. The internal movement shows up quickly when using an 8 steady posture walking set. It just fits with the nature of Ba Gua, and the circle walking seems to amplify the energy.
Anyway let me know what you think. Enjoy! Until next time,
Love & Tao
ShenchiFebruary 20, 2009 at 12:03 pm #30498Thank you for sharing your practice… it is always very useful to hear/read others experiences and practices, it can add or alter or change bits and pieces of our own practice/feelings…
