    Hello!

I have been working with the Bodyflow videotapes, as recommended by alchemicaltaoism.com. Great practice! Very much appreciated – it has done wonders with my alignment with just the first 11 exercises.

    But I wonder:

    1) Do I need the book when the kinetic chains become more sophisticated?

    2) Is Sonnon’s other material as good as Bodyflow?

    3) How do you incorporate it with other training – stretching, standing qigong etc?

    I appreciate all feedback.

    Cheers,
    Tord

    1) The book is not needed for the pictures of the moves, but it gives you an excellent primer on the science and theory and is inspiring. I will lend you the book though if you want, email me at somlorNOSPAM@eml.cc (just remove the NOSPAM part)

    2) Yes. Warrior Wellness is phenomenal and essential. It’s the “alphabet” whereas BodyFlow is the “grammar”. I also enjoy Be Breathed, Effortless Gait (a book on proper running posture) and working with Clubbells. I’ll probably get more of his martial stuff, for instance Softwork, when I start BJJ soon.

    3) That’s up to you. At the very least it brings you into and frees your physique way more effectively than any Tai Chi or Chi Kung video I’ve seen because it shows you workable principles you can explore on your own, without needing an expert to tell you “tweak your arm alignment 3 inches to the right and tuck in your elbows”. ๐Ÿ˜‰ BodyFlow at it’s highest becomes purely playful, and so automatically becomes a form of spontaneous Chi Kung. I find when going back and practicing, ie: Winn’s forms, my body can appreciate them on a whole new level after WW and BodyFlow “recovery” and I find myself spontaneously introducing structural modifications that make the movements more effective for *me*. Which is what Sonnon’s philosophy is all about really, finding *your* flow, beyond technique.

Sorry, I probably sound like an infomercial. I’m clearly a fan of his work.

    ๐Ÿ™‚

    Cheers,
    Sean.

The sickest workout I have found. I literally vomit sometimes after practice . But I am debating doing it full time instead of Aikido. Your experience with Sonnon’s stuff will no doubt help you. I just bought my first clubbells a few weeks ago myself. They are pretty neat!

I really dont’ do any of it to fight it’s mostly just to have fun. I agree alot with Winn that martial arts are mostly a waste of time when practiced solely to beat people up. I actually am trying to merge the Tao practices with whatever martial art/physical training and turn it to a outer tao practice.

Sonnon appears to be on that level and you see him talking from a higher level that just “fighting”

I also think Matt Furey’s stuff is great.

Thank you so much for your answer ๐Ÿ™‚

Bodyflow could be the 21. century tendon-changing classic.

    Practicing…

    Greetings,

Me too. BJJ seems like a great workout and I think it leads to the type of full-body coordination/intelligence/strength that I am interested in.

Have you started playing with BodyFlow yet?

I have the tapes. checked them out a few times but havent really gotten into it yet. I have found a high level Baguazhang and Hsing I teacher and will be concentrating on that for awhile.
