I don’t think the general population will EVER really
flock to alchemical education enmasse. Alchemy requires
too much serious effort and courage to walk that path.
Of course this means that most people are just
going through the motions.March 10, 2009 at 8:17 pm #30723The general population does not need to. The healing is with in the Alchemical class or branch. The split into religion and science if healed, then I assume the other branches will come along. So maybe 1% of the population will most likely hold the role of “Alchemist”. People will find fulfillment in there given branch when they see how it connects to the trunk.
As for them taking it seriously I would not recommend taking that attitude when it come to Nei Dan Gong or internal alchemy courage helps certainly and respect is a virtue but seriousness will slow if not halt your progress in time. I am saying there is a difference between respect and seriousness. Seriousness is often to dense to small of a box.

The point I was making was that the default mode for most is
to keep yourself so busy and distracted that you don’t notice
how empty you really feel. A very close friend of mine who is
always listening to music, watching TV, playing video games, doing
all of the above at the same time got very uncomfortable at the
suggestion of cutting out the constant stimulation, because in
his words “then I’d be inside my own head, which is a scary place
to be”. At least he was being honest! I’d be willing to bet
that’s the case for most people if they were really pressed. So,
in such a state, how are they going to see any such connections?>>>As for them taking it seriously I would not
>>>recommend taking that attitude when it come [etc.]I didn’t mean seriousness in the sense of sternness or rigidity;
I meant in the sense of devotion, i.e. not many are willing to
go through the long training process; it’s much easier to be unhappy
and remain in a state of being unfulfilled . . . attending to the tasks
of life by just going through the motions (e.g. Buffy video). As much as I’d like to see things change, and maybe a good economic
collapse could help on that front, I don’t think they will that much,
truth be told. People are going to remain and act the same way that
they always have. For one, it’s familiar. For two, they wouldn’t
know what else to do.It’s still fun to have hope and dreams though 🙂
