I believe that I may have found an antidote to sungazing’s excessive yang in Osho’s darkness meditation:
Go into a pitch black room and sit there with the eyes open for an hour at a time.
People who take in light have energy, motion, and inner fire. Lots of passion and aggression.
People who take in dark have peace, coolness, and deep stillness. They are desireless and asexual.
When you get the knack of it, you can see beyond light into the blue black source even on a sunny day.
From my sungazing reading, it has been reported that the sun’s soul is black on source level.
I’ll check into it!

April 4, 2005 at 10:17 am #3956I’m self-employed selling real estate and I generally work part time. SC is a very cheap place to live, thank goodness. I consider working in the world to be a very valuable portion of my education. Without it, I wouldn’t be able to separate where I think I’m at and where I really am at, vibrationally. Maybe when I’m more sensitive to my feelings/energies I won’t need this feedback loop, but in the meantime it’s crucial.
Back to the chase:
Did my darkness sitting for 30 minutes last night. Had to go into a bathroom, put a towel under the door, draw the shower curtain, and put a shirt over my head, but I finally got it pitch black. (see, I work)
Nothing huge to report. When the eyes have nothing to focus on, they quiet down and stop moving so much which quiets the brain too. So it was a pleasant meditation. The eyes naturally looked upwards. I did feel cooler and more peaceful as advertised. Osho says it takes an hour a day for 3 weeks to get the hang of what the practice is doing to you… I’ll see if I can get to an hour, but I’m sure I’ll be able to do 30 minutes at least.
It does feel like a good practice to do along side of sungazing.
