FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – January 23, 2006 – The historic Riverside Hotel, proudly hosts a cocktail reception in honor of Dr. Victor I. Petrik, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, at its Champ Carr Ballroom tonight from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Fort Lauderdale’s Mayor, Jim Naugle, will present the Key to the City to Dr. Petrik, a highly decorated and accomplished Russian scientist who has led research findings in nanotechnology advancements, techniques of oil and water separation and contaminated soil treatment to help nation’s Major oil companies recover from oil spills. Tonight’s special event is open to members of the press; photo opportunities are still available.

Dr. Victor I. Petrik has led scientific accomplishments in the fields of nuclear physics, nano-carbon structures, crystallography and optical ceramics, anti-Stokes Compounds and carbon sorbents. Dr. Petrik has been awarded with medals from P.A. Kapitsa “Author of Scientific Discovery”, St. Daniil Order of the Patriarchy of Russia, Anniversary Medal of the Marshall Zhukov of the Soviet Union, Order “For Services to the Fatherland and the Cossacks” of the First Degree, Insignia – Order of Nicolas the Second, and Georgiy Cross of the Fourth Degree.
