    Interested in everyone’s view:
does a glass of champagne or wine interfere with ones practice, or even drive energy beings away as some traditions claim to be developed when practicing conistently…

I attended a weekend retreat where we had 1 solid hour of wine tasting as part of the practice. Although the wine HAS to be St.Emillion, and red, wine clears the small intestine, which induces a clear and intelligent mind.

    Ofcourse, all in moderation.

    Well, not in Norway, though…

    The Nothingness

    How can you grasp reality?

My experience with alcohol is that it tends to dull both mental and physical sensation. I can’t see how that would be a benefit to practice.

Some have argued that other drugs might assist in practice, be it the slight stimulant you get from green tea or ginseng, or the greater stimulant you get from coffee, or the trippy stimulation you get from pot. I wouldn’t really reccomend these things either, though on the other hand I think it’s fine to experiment, and it might get you through a period in your practice.

Fundementally though, I tend to think you should always try to go back to “unasisted” meditation.

For sure alcohol will not only dull the mind, but also clog the meridians with thick gunk.
At the time of drinking the mind is stimulated and may get some deep wiews,or insights.
But I don’t think those are profitable, as you see the next morning it’s all the reverse, youn are stuck with a paralyzed mind.

The pure mind, which is the essential tool in development, doesn’t need artificial stimulation. That will only make you move backwards, or waste your time.

It helps the liver but hurts the lungs, brightens the heart at the expense of the kidneys.
