i promised the taobums site i would do a one month exoeriment on the core channel to see if just working the core channel, and only the core channel (no orbit practice or healing sound practice) would be sufficient to sork the shen and the other channels. in other words, by doing only core channel practice, i could unblock shen and nurture virtue, and fill and circulate all the other channels–orbit, belt, and arma dn legs. i’m keeping a practice log in the blog section of that site if you want to follow it. i’ve locked the blog entries but feel free to start any threads in the discussion section there or on this site.

March 30, 2005 at 1:43 pm #3793May be a good opportunity to generate general core channel discussion. As always, I’m interested in discussing the relevant classic text, Tsongkhapa’s Six Yogas of Naropa (particularly pgs 141-164), if others also take up the active role of reading, discussing the text.
March 30, 2005 at 3:19 pm #3795Keith,
Okay, I’ve finally ordered this book (seeing as how I also ordered one by Master Nan, to see what Plato and Max were on about).
In case anyone else is interested, there are cheaper copies than the $50 at amazon!
From bookfinder.com I got a $14 new copy, and there are other copies for $19.
Knowing me and books, I’ll probably enjoy looking at it on the shelf for a few years, and then devour all 24 of the suggested pages over the course of another year! Oh, to be a fast reader…and not drift away with every third word.

March 31, 2005 at 5:50 am #3797What was the practice before the rise of the element theory.
One Cloud formulas rely heavily on the element theory in description of the process of cultivation of dan tiens/central channel/dan tien.
What would be practice before the element theory?
1.Warm current meditation. The path of microcosmic orbit for the denser ones.
In time of cultivation other aspects (feeling, emotions, …) start to participate. And substance tranforms.
First sitting. Then to moving meditation.2.Yin Yang ritual movement. Any.
In time of cultivation other aspects (feeling, emotions, …) start to participate. And substance tranforms.
Firts moving. Then movement meditation.3.Shamanic dreamtime experience. Then traced back to root. Which causes shift. Probable source of fusion.
4.Sitting in one’s centre.
That is basically my practice. You enjoy Tsongkhapa’s Six Yogas of Naropa.
It offers one vision of practice with strong roots in pre-element theory time.
I do see use in element corresspondence. However not understanding underlying need behing its creation might cost one’s freedom. It’s message of centre cultivation is extremely clear.
There is also sigil/word seed/intricate form meditation. Tsongkhapa’s Six Yogas of Naropa use them. I still seek if/how/why they are essential. I want subtle form manitestation to manifest because of willful passion and not just will. The ching to light transformation. Is such practice also creative: does such process have ability to create. Especially regarding the body.
I do not mind releasing the coarse struggle. I do ming having to do it.You also remarked importance of brain/nervous system. Brain is upper dan tien. Nervous system is very connected to brain. Possibly very fiery. And full of water, the brain. I am still observing that.
(Atlantis-stellar mind book will probably offer one vision of very ancient practice too.)
March 31, 2005 at 4:16 pm #3799Jernej,
I often times have trouble reading your posts; as they – at first glance – communicate as a pithy “notes to self” style that is thus more-difficult-to-fill-out-by-others”.
In this thread I’ve taken more effort to get each line, as I felt your post was a reply to my own. I’ve found it dense with meaning, worth the effort.
Gonna take me a while to get back to you. 🙂

March 31, 2005 at 9:04 pm #3801i’ll never find that book in china. probably not even in hk, based on what i’ve seen in bookstores there. is it possible to summarize what yer talking about?

I e-mailed Snow Lion Publications, and replied that it is scheduled to be reprinted sometime around November. The cover price on my paperback reads $18.95. I bet there are used, nearly like new, copies around from various sources for around the prices you mention.
Just got back from a couple days away, will catch up on other threads as soon as I get a chance.
