>>>What is Jing? Pre or post?
Good question.
I’ve never heard of it described in these terms.
According the model given above, I suppose that
jing, which corresponds to substance, would not
exist in the formless. But again, this is just a guess.
I don’t understand his model fully. And, of course, there are different models.

February 21, 2013 at 11:17 pm #40302I feel under this theory, there is nothing that is pre-natal or early heaven in this life.
I believe this is a mistake, and opposes the fundamental insights of the Taoists. Which is the inseparable nature of Heaven/Human/Earth or Jing/Qi/Shen.
From this view, there can never be early heaven in this life. We can not have Heaven on Earth.

February 24, 2013 at 1:00 am #40304I feel also that you would have to have Yuan Qi (original chi) 元気, inside
out bodies in order to be able to connect and bring more in thru the Ming Men.
I agree with you Bagua that our bodies must hold pre-natal and post-natal
energies…..if our bodies are a micro copy of the universe, then inside of us
we should be able to sit on the wave of the expanding universe and be able to also
look in and see its conception and birth at the same time. Hard to put into words.Using Chinese characters does make it easier to distinguish meanings but it also
tends to lead to too many types. The qi that flows thru the 5 phases is the same
qi but its “quality” changes according to the element it is in…so all qi is the
same but will change when expressed in different aspects and we run into the
problem of creating 10,000 names of qi.When I was practicing on my own I didn’t think too much about this, but when
guiding my husband thru the inner smile, I tried to explain some of the
terms and realized that I didn’t have a good grasp on the meanings myself. Thanks reading these posts is great,
AdelFebruary 24, 2013 at 1:14 am #40306Looking at the characters is interesting too:
Jing 精 immature rice
Qi 氣 steamed rice
I guess in order to digest Jing we must cook it into a softer
Qi first.Adel

I think that different manifestations could exist
simultaneously, side-by-side, yet still be connected
and non-separated. Sort of like a parallel dimension
that you can not see with ordinary eyes. In any
case, I see how it could be a plausible model. As for me, I don’t adopt any such model.
To me, these are all just campfire stories,
entertaining for sure, but hardly relevant in my life.
For me, I would rather just learn some practices,
do them, and see what I experience/discoverS
March 14, 2013 at 3:50 am #40310Bagua, why do you think that “I feel under this theory, there is nothing that is pre-natal or early heaven in this life.”?
Can think of specific examples or currents of thought you’ve heard him express that lead you to think this way about his view?
Thanks,
Ryan
March 14, 2013 at 3:45 pm #40312Hello Ryan:
It seems to me they bifurcate life. They are very dual, which is in total contradiction to Lao Zi. They feel post-natal is post-natal. That Jing and even the Chong channel must be viewed as prenatal jing and post-natal jing. They split life into two. I don’t think this is tao.
We are an integration of heaven and earth. In this life, we need to let go of polarized ideas and actions. We practice letting go. When we let go the Dao is there. It has always been there. But we have focused on other things and lost this awareness.
In the approach they mentioned, you need to go to the early heaven to get Early Heaven Jing, as if you do not have it here. They bifurcate the inseparable nature of life. This is an artificial construct, but your Yi, the thinking mind mixes with emotions and the excitement of what might happen, and the separation occurs. The subtle issue is each person in their model is lacking, they do not have the resources or capacity to be living in the Dao now. You must do special things to create an immortal being. As you try to construct something special, it implies you are not it. And you need to get things to get it. Like getting pre-heaven jing and Yuan QI, etc.
So I ask you. Is this process of getting a dream (fantasy) or a reality?
Bagua, why do you think that “I feel under this theory, there is nothing that is pre-natal or early heaven in this life.”?
