Well, I think he has done as best as he could.
For one, there is a little bit of a language barrier.
Two, not being born a westerner, he doesn’t
understand the western mind as well as say Michael.Three it is really hard to get a complete picture from a book alone–
it’s better than absolutely nothing, but you really need to
learn the stuff live (or at least by video). In fact,
most of his books say (or at least used to say), that it
is not meant as an instruction manual–but merely a student
reference for those learning it directly from a Healing Tao instructor.Yes, it’s possible some people might have been turned away from
not getting it via the books, but then again, most people wouldn’t
even know about HT had they not been exposed to some book written by MC.Let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater here as far as
the instruction goes. HT is relatively young as far as having
mass public exposure. It takes time to develop methods of instruction
that make it easier to become adept.Michael is making improvements to his instruction all the time–both
in terms of how he explains the material to decrease the learning
curve, and also in terms of developing new insights/new courses.I suggest getting some of his DVDs and/or CDs . . . or better
yet go to one of the workshops or summer Healing Tao retreats.I mean, you wouldn’t learn how to swim by reading a book would you? . . .
it would obviously be difficult to acquire the skills!S

I hadn’t thought of the possibility that the language barrier and cultural background could be creating some of what looked like self-contradiction to me. The world is full of other instructors who don’t know this method themselves or, like the Healing Dao instructor I was studying with, are simply unwilling to teach the sexual part of the system when they do know it. So I do admire MC and Michael for that. I should talk about this more with the instructor I’m studying with now who doesn’t approve of the Healing Dao system but isn’t actually trained in it. He’s passing along what his instructor said but I’m trying to question everything more. I hope no one is offended when they find out they’re included in the “everything” part, I wouldn’t be here in this forum if I wasn’t trying to learn the same system you are.
November 30, 2007 at 3:16 pm #26253maybe this will help, sounds like you have been practicing for awhile, not sure exactly what or how much or what results you are seeking..
here is the best advice I can give you…
ten years ago an older friend gave me a copy of Mantak Chia’s transform stress to vitality/inner sounds book..
I did healing sounds which were just kind of fun to do, my bad breath went away, and my posture improved from sitting erect during the exercises..my vocal tones in a singer sense also improved
on the flip side, this friend acted like the microcosmic orbit was biggest deal on earth and said i should take weeks opening each point..
this was a total waste of time..
positive side..
i have known so many troubled people through the years that just sitting there and relaxing is a blessing..and this technique could be used your whole life just to relax…
the microcosmic orbit was how I reset my compass in an otherwise stressed beyond stressed world..
and that alone had benefits..
however after 10 years of doing practices, here is what I can tell you..
I think anyone and everyone could run up through greater kan and li IMMEDIATELY..
after about two years of doing lesser and greater the presence of the elements, energies, and relaxation become very restful, intense, and sexual..like thick energy plasmas
it was opening the pole reversal between the chest and kidneys which brought deep powerful sexual energy and relaxation plus chemistry with partners..
it is great to do on the job on a break, at home to relax, or between rounds of studying or work..
it is really wonderful, i do it all the time and cannot complain at all, i recommed it to everyone.. (lesser and greater) but expect IMHO 1 to two years to get really deep into it..
beyond that I do not know… I am inclined to think that greatest and star alchemy are too out there conceptually to bring into mainstream day to day existence, but I may be wrong.. if it’s possible to be good at planet tuning I am not….
i really think these two require an in person workshop, but everything before them could be done on your own.. like tuning into molten earth lava etc..
these are all fun to do..
final note: when I first learned to do the inner smile practice, i thought of it as a glandular control system..
many years later it has, apparently, turned into a religious-philosophical personality adjustment system.. and I cannot say that I agree with that.. perhaps I am not spiritually high enough to get it, but I still practice it as physical rather than philosophical system..
Michael Winn gets very heavily into this whole “neutral field, smile to everything” way of dealing with reality…
i do this every now and then but not on a daily basis..i look at it as a golden elixir trick NOT a philosophy
