Hi all,
It seems every once in a while and more recently I get Deja Vu. I get the feeling that what I am doing at the moment I am supposed to do. I think an unconcious part of me may already know or be able to know my future. Just once in a while I get a connection for a moment.
Maybe due to some deep personal issues and relationships I’m trying to deal with currently I get the feeling my future is not exactly what I want or optimal for me. So when I get the deja vu feeling I try to do something totally different thereby maybe altering my future. But since I can’t see my future unfolding I have no idea of any changing outcome.
So I ask is it more harmonious to accept the deja vu and work on myself (Taoist mediation, etc.) so I change/create my own future or go with my gut and try to change the present moment hopefully changing my future to a better one?
Peace and balance.
April 13, 2009 at 11:20 pm #31080Hi Derek,
I don’t really have an answer to your question, although it’s
an interesting one. I’ve been waiting to see if anyone else
had insight. My personal feeling is to just work on cultivating
yourself while simultaneously listening to one’s inner voice
or intuition as to decide which path to take. For an interesting segue that connects in with your question,
let me share with you my “crazy time circle idea” I invented
as a kid:This particular crazy idea of mine is that in fact
each of us doesn’t live this life just once, but we live it repeatedly.
In other words, when you die you are instantly transported
through time and space back years into the past to the moment
of your own birth with memories wiped. The “tunnel” we
pass through is actually our own mother’s birth canal as we
are ready to be born again in our past at the start of our
time line. The “light at the end of the tunnel” is the
light in the hospital room ready to receive us as a born child.
Thus our time line is not a time line, but a time circle. At each new start, our memories are wiped and we try it again.
Even though fatalistically, we are replaying the same life
over and over again like a broken record, the enrichment to our
souls from previous “playings”, cause us to make different
choices the next time through. Thus each replayed life
ends up being a completely fresh experience (aside from having
no memories of previous run-throughs).The experience of Deja Vu, of feeling that “you’ve done this
before”, is nothing other than the fact that you *have done
it before*–many many times–and it therefore feels familiar.
It feels familiar because at this particular point in your life
circumstances are closely similar to how things proceeded in
a previous run-through.Of course, in this “fantasy” spiritual world-view, the advantage
in not listening to Deja Vu is that you proceed with a unique
experience; the advantage in listening to Deja Vu would be if
the previous manner in which you handled the situation was
already good/successful, so you may as well stick with it.Thus, in this “fantasy” also, trying to listen to one’s
intuition or “inner voice” would be the best option.Have fun,

Almost missed your post as no one has replied up until now. As of today’s date a bunch have read my original post and I too am curious what other people would say. Though none have not.
Agree with you, must always cultivate yourself. Your kid idea reminds me of Ground Hog day the movie, funny movie. Your idea may not be far from the truth. We seem to all be here to learn until we get it right.
Not saying I know much or anything, I guess deja vu is a previous “download” from the source that manifests in the present and is conciously recognized. If deja vu and fate are linked, I think by going into the higher practices you can change/negate your fate/karma. It seems though as the original energy split into yin and yang, it created a dichtomy for everything, free will and fate equally exist, reality contains both.

April 14, 2009 at 5:48 am #31084Hello
I do not know if this is a question for your answer, but from my own experience with similar things. For example when I met a woman that then became my girlfriend I did dream about her art at her home. When I then arrived to her home I recognised her art. Actually this have happened for me with art and girlfriends several times. This is not actually deja vu. But I think the phenomenons are quite similar. I do not think that you should try to change anything when having a dejavu. I think you should feel into the situation and feel that it is sacral and mystical and important. Just enjoy it. The feeling is almost ever or always a greate postive feeling. The universe and it’s forces know why you should experience this and why you should go through it and let the outcome be the best for you. Why do you think that going in the wrong direction in life shouldn’t happen. Even from such experiences you learn alot, perhaps more than if things go in the “right” direction.
So let it just happen. Enjoy the mystery. Keep on kultivating. Perhaps try to understand and interpret the symbolism in the situation or the meaning of it. Like Michael did with the turtles! Such feelings like deja vu is somehting greate and meaningsful I think.

April 16, 2009 at 1:27 pm #31086To user,
The problem in answering your question is most of all, what is deja vu exactly? On the linked website they give some good explanations, from science to past lives. Nobody knows exactly what is deja vu. But down the page of the link, you find people who have experiences and sort of suffer from it and are looking for answers. The one I posted here is closest to your question if you have to change the deja vu experience. Still it is not giving a real answer whether you HAVE to change it or not. I do not have any insights in this … good luck on your path!
When I was 17years ols – 36 years ago – my parents & I were arguing while in my room. I was hit in the head/face and knocked out by my father. When I came to I noticed the onset of an intense deja vu. At the time I didn’t even know the term, and really didn’t know what was happening. As my parents spoke to me, I could tell exactly waht they were about to say. I could see their actions before hand. For my part I kept silent. After about 15 minutes of this I became fairly scared and announced – speaking for the first time myself – that I couldn’t take it any longer and so I wanted them to leave, to break this off. My mother left the room. As a 17 year old by my room was most often quite a mess, with things and clothes all over the floor. Among the items was a Marine Corp knife my father had given me years before. It was in its sheath on the floor in front of where I sat on my bed. I saw it there and also saw in my mind my future actions as though seeing them from my own eyes as I would see anything from my own perspective,I did not see these actions as though from an outside observer. I saw each step of the next few seconds as a separate step. First, while still seated on the bed, I saw myself reach for the knife. Seeing this, I felt compelled to act it out. I did not feel I could stop it from happening. As I fullfilled this image by following through, I saw the next step I was about to do. I saw myself pick up the knofe and unsheathe it.So I di it. As I picked it up and unsheathed it, I saw myself approach my father who was standing above me, watching. So I did that. As I unsheathed the knife and approached my father, I saw myself put it to his throat and tell him to get out of my room. So I did that. As I did, I saw myfather grip my wrist, take the knife from me, and put it behind him and walk away safely. Then he did. All along I felt calm, reassured that nothing would happen. This more or less broke the spell. But then for about a year I would experience deja vu at least two or more times a month, which would last as long as I wanted them to – five minutes at a time easily. I could stop them by doing what I have called ‘changing the script’, or simply deciding on what I knew was an incorrect scenario. As I knew A would say to B such and such, I would decide , for example, that A would get up and leave. As this was not ‘scripted’ it would bring the deja vu to an end. This lasted about a year or so and since then I still have deja vu, but nothing like that. Mostly, as afar as I know, I have them as anyone does – infrequently and only in a flash … Kim Emerson, 21 April 2006
April 16, 2009 at 3:16 pm #31088So user, this may be an answer to your question if you have to follow it or change it… this posting is from the same site from the postings people make… I thought this one is more of an answer to your question…
All the answers are out there, just takes time/effort/focus or good luck 😉 to find them… I mean all this in general though 🙂
I am a 26 year old housewife and mother, and I’ve had numerous experiences of deja vous from as far back as I can remember. I have pondered over the hows and whys for years, but I was asked my thoughts on the subject the other day, and I was just as intrigued by my answer as my friend was(as I have a tendancy to answer questions without the need for the usual thought processes), I have never read, heard, or thought this theory before, and I believe I’ve had a type of revelation from my subconcious. So tell me what you think!
My answer to the question “what is deja vous?” was :
Well, I believe everyone has a kind of destiny, that we’ve all planned before incarnation in order to spiritually progress. Basically we’ve chosen our “destination”, but we’re making the route up as we go along(free will). Our higher self/consciousness(spirit) knows all, and has always got our true life path running in the back of it’s mind(kinda like a pre-recorded video), no matter what we do, or how much we’ve veered off-course, which is why we sometimes make spontaneous, life-changing descisions, or get drawn to certain people and situations(our higher self pulling us back on course). Deja vous occurs when our life(thats a bit off-course), gets back on course. At the moment of deja vous, life and fate touch, so we experience both at the same time momentarily, thats when we say “woa, deja vous”, and we start thinking, which in turn usually makes our waking mind take over, and our link to our higher self is disconnected(which is why most deja vous only lasts seconds-until realisation!). I believe having a deja vous experience means I am on the right track to fullfill my destiny, and I usually find them quite reassuring, especially just after making a big descision, as then I feel I’m doing the right thing.I then went on to say: it’s as if you are walking along the kerb, or a low wall, sometimes one of your feet slip off, but the other one stays on the kerb(imagine the foot on the wall is your fate, and the foot thats slipped is the life you’re living). When you bring your other foot back onto the kerb, you momentarily look down to check your footing, thats when you see your two feet, which fleetingly look more or less the same(aka. deja vu), then you look up again to wherever your headed.
My deja vous experiences vary in frequency, duration and intensities, but all aspects are noticeably more if I’m at a major turning point in my life.»
