Is there a problem with this site.

Hello Eric,

There are three reasons why posts may not appear.

1. If you post on the “old” version of the Healing Tao Forum,
then posts do not appear. You can distinguish the old
version of the forum from the new, by the following:
If the top of the forum has a yellow/beige bar and the left-hand
side has what looks like an atom with “electrons” orbiting
a yin-yang nucleus, then the forum you are seeing is the “old” version.
The “new” version of the forum does not look like this, and has three
subforums: General, Philosophy, and Practice. The address
for the new forum is as Swedich Dragon pointed out, and is
linked off of the main Healing Tao page. This causes confusion
with some, as posts made on the new version (which do appear
generally) get carbon-copied to the old version making
people who use the old version of the forum think that the
old version is actually the active one. I’ve mentioned this
to Michael a couple of times in suggesting that the old version
be disabled, but he has not done so yet.

2. Another reason why a post may not appear (assuming it was
posted on the new forum) is if Michael feels the post is
spam or inappropriate, and then he removes it. I don’t
suspect that this happened in your case, but felt it worth
mentioning.

3. Lastly, a post may not appear (assuming it was posted
on the new forum) if the forum or main webpage
crashed while you were in the process of typing the post.
In this case, the post will sometimes appear a couple of days
later or sometimes not at all as the post becomes lost in the
ether. This isn’t a regular occurrence, but it can happen.

Assuming that the first issue isn’t true and that you are
posting on the new forum, then the best option is that if
you don’t see your post appear right away, to try posting it
again as reason #3 is likely.

If the first post appears later as a duplicate post,
Michael (at his discretion) will just remove it. If you are
concerned about time lost in constructing posts, then you can
(to be safe) write your post in a text editor and copy it.
Then if the site crashes and it doesn’t appear, you can resubmit
quickly without much rework.

As to your second comment about not seeing much activity,
there may be nothing wrong there. There are probably <10
people who post on the list (the majority of the forum guests
are lurkers) and of those 10 maybe only 5 are "regulars".
If a large percent of that group happens to go on vacation, or
quits posting for awhile for personal reasons, then the activity
on the list can drop to near inactivity. I.E. There may not
be anything wrong with the list, as activity can wax and wane
like the moon.
