Be careful about excessively low postures – they can strain your heart.
Juan Li told me of a teacher inthe SF area famous for his long, low postures who suddenly keeled over from a heart attack.also, westerners have a longer leg structure than many asians and should not try to imitate them. Find what is realistic and comfortable for you.
mThe low stance torture sessions are in past tense for me now actually.
But I value my martial arts training for having shown me what is possible in terms of pushing into high levels of fitness, which I now maintain at the gym using a combo of fitness machines, yoga and qigong. And the all important sauna to top off the workout…
It’s true that excessive low stance work can be dangerous, and in any case, painful.Simon
