did you practice kriya yoga as in the tradition of Lahiri Mahasaya, Paramahamsa Yogananda, Hariharananda (sp?), etc.? did you get past the first initiation? how far did you go?
How is Healing Tao different?
I am considering learning both kriya yoga and healing tao qi gong…….
Thank youApril 30, 2013 at 10:45 am #40619I don’t know much about kriya but isn’t the essental physical technique to slow down your breathing to an almost stand still?
April 30, 2013 at 7:48 pm #40621i don’t know too much about it either but i think that’s the idea, to lose dependency on the breath…….
i found this site which has some info about the secret techniques (if i learn it though it will be from a teacher)

The mammoth Bluffdale center will have another important and far more secret role that until now has gone unrevealed. It is also critical, he says, for breaking codes. And code-breaking is crucial, because much of the data that the center will handle-financial information, stock transactions, business deals, foreign military and diplomatic secrets, legal documents, confidental personal communications-will be heavily encrypted. According to another top official also involved with the program, the NSA made an enormous breakthrough in its ability several years ago to cryptanalyze, or break, unfathomably complex encryption systems employed by not only goverments around the world but also many average computer users in the US. The upshot, according to this official: “Everybody’s a target; everybody with communication is a target.”
-JAMES BAMFORD, In the MatrixMusiikillisesti tämä konseptitaide-kokoonpano istuu luontevasti jonnekin avantgarden, kabareen, postpunkin ja progen välimaastoon ja on erikoistunut ylipäätään likimain kaikenlaisen länsimaisen musiikin pastissoimiseen konseptilevyillään. Residents saapuu 6. toukokuuta Helsingin Tavastialle osana Wonder of Weird 40-vuotiskiertuettaan (ajoissa ollaan, sillä yhtyeen ensimmäinen albumi The Residents -nimellä ilmestyi vuonna 1974). Rumba sai suureksi yllätyksekseen haastattelun hörhölegendoilta tosin kuten hommaan kuuluu, Residents ei anna tätäkään haastattelua bändinä, vaan puhemiehenä toimii salamyhkäinen The Cryptic Corporation.

It seems that if one wants to have simple idea what kriya yoga is about, it’s better see it in terms of those later limbs of ashtanga yoga; that is pratyahara, dharana, dhyana & samadhi.
So for starting to learn kriya yoga one doesn’t stop practicing asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha etc, but one again learns new techniques, but mostly it would happen so that these are learned separately and when some mastery have been acquired one start to combine these with earlier mechanized practices. So it’s also a matter of learning yogic multitasking.
By the way I have impression that these are starting to be quite advanced practices.

May 7, 2013 at 6:19 am #40625Sorry, but I don’t think that my comment anyway disturbs Healing Tao as a business.
If one is interested about kriya yoga one should understand that like with certain Daoist practices there is real difference with beginner’s practice and then those practices which become after those.
If you for example are studying in the university in the faculty of humanities there is sometimes situation where you can quite long time decide by yourself in which order you pick subjects of your major or your minors.
I’m sure that for example Steven could say if it’s possible to do it like that with mathematics.
All don’t need any real personal teacher or some lineage, because in these kind of conditions there already starts to be almost too much information, in my opinion.
It seems like these Bihar books are all also good food for thought and even I have some sympathies for example towards Ananda Marga this linking with Kapalika tradition is not anymore very healthy. There should not be on the surface anything too extreme.

Ps. Sorry for my broken enGlish.
Some say the song of a crow is a cry
Some say the cry of a crow is a lie
I wonder what it’s like to be one of them
Do they get jealous?
Are some blacker
And therefore creators of envy and mistrust in the dark hearts
Of their brethren?
Or do they just exist
Scavenging crumbs of carrion here and there
Laughing, cackling really
At the two legged pestilence
Painfully fouling the ground beneath their airborne pirouettes
Do they really want their screaching and hideous demanding offspring
Or do they simply have no choice
But to follow compulsions blindly
Driving them into situations they cannot control
Situations that look so easy and desirable
But lead only to the same pain
And the same suffering
And the same lifeless branches that always indicate
A barrier of barren emptiness
Dead trees are everywhere
