My first booklet is about… the uterus…
In case you men wonder how women think/feel about their precious uterus, this is just an example of how the average ‘American’ woman is in relationship with her earth….Dear Uterus,
I used to refer to you as Hitler in the sense that whenever that time of the month came around it would feel to me like the Holocaust enveloped into one week. I now tend to hesitate to do so since I saw that episode of Oprah that dealt with the whole thing. Calling my period The Holocaust still does seem hilarious to me. But its disrespectful. That is the problem. And that is why I do not like you.
You are mean. And I almost threw up today because of you. You just dont play fair.
Today I couldnt just grin and bear it anymore. Today I had to consider skipping classes because you were burning a hole through the extra strength Midol that I took in the morning. Today even Jon felt sorry for me because I couldnt just sit still and not complain about the fact that you were digging nails into my insides. I dont appreciate you hanging pictures all over the place on MY walls; only people with bad taste in interior design do that and DONT YOU KNOW HOW UGLY THAT LOOKS!
I dont consider you a friend. I never liked you anyway. And it makes me sick to think that youll be housing up my child somewhere down the road. You dont deserve that pleasure.
Suck it, Hitler,
RMay 23, 2007 at 1:50 pm #22281I read this and laughed but with a sick feeling. I am struck how the uterus is not only a man but the most demonic one of recent times.
But isn’t this more a letter to her ‘period’? Do women distinguish their uterus from their periods? Maybe this is the only communication she has with her uterus and it is one of pain?
So much tied to the the uterus. Sexuality, mothering and how she was mothered and bleeding. Rhythms not of everyday modern life of busyness but central to any communal life.
With all my compassion I felt incapable of really supporting my daughters with their intimate relationship.
How can men support? Barry
May 23, 2007 at 3:41 pm #22283This answer can become a very long essay
But you are correct saying ‘intimate relationship’, unfortunately for many women the uterus is nothing more than a painful spot in their lower abdomen.
Not difficult to link that pain with the centuries of suppression and pain women suffered, information stored in the ancestral memory bank.In ancient times how powerful and honored women where, creating a baby out of ‘nothing’, until men found out that their penis had something to do with this mystery. The penis became a weapon to dominate and silently the anger against men arose.
The mystery was no longer a mystery and fight for power was a fact. Women felt betrayed and started to live underground, hiding, they became the snake in men’s paradise. They found out the hard way that when women reveiled their secrets they where conquered and enslaved.
Surprised that women can lie and betray so easily.
Surprised that women hold a lot of anger stored in their body cells.
Surprised that women suffer from menstruation pains and birthing problems. In my very humble opinion, it is a womens thing to revive women, not by men. The pain stored in our bodies is so deep that I don’t believe we can trust men completely to get ‘healed’ by a man. At least not in the deepest mystery of womanhood, the uterus as number one.
My ‘visions’ are very clear about that, the mystery can only be touched by women.
The holy space can only be entered by those alike, who know the suffering. What I see for men, is a support and a heartful care for that process.
Respecting their periods with genuine appreciation.
It is a womans mystery and it belongs to them. They do want to feel a heartful support for that mystery.Only when the uterus is strong enough she can really offer herself from within the deepest mystery to a man who is respecting her, he will receive the love he needs for his healing. And a joined final healing can take place between man and woman.
My 11 year old daughter was just wiggling with her hips, I told her she looked nice doing that, she replied: I look like a slut doing that. I told her that being sensual is okay and that it is very healthy to move the hips like that, not to lock them. She wiggled to her room, with a little sensual smile…

Some friends and I were recently discussing bellydancing, and how much it has in common with qi gong – how it develops the hara and the deep internals along the spine, keeps blood circulating and tissue supple in important areas. I think it’s a real body-wisdom practice.
Some related links that I found:
BellyDance DVD. Read a few of the reader reviews: very impressive.
YouTube vid by woman who made the DVD.The “bellyroll”, which articulates the hara.
“Queen Cassie”, the youtube user who made the bellyroll vid, has a bunch of bellydance vids.May 24, 2007 at 3:35 am #22287Wendy,
I agree with the historical issues, and also that they are still present today, but think that the female issues with sexuality and repressing issues into the uterus are really about the loss of jing during the period. It is equivalent to the male loss of jing from ejaculation and the resulting feelings of guilt, anger etc that are projected out in males instead of buried inside as they are in females.
Women lose their jing in a controlled, regular way during the period where men are subject to immediate loss; women are more powerful sexually in that they don’t lose it during the sexual act. My interpretation is that men fear the loss to women so overcompensate to control them socially, they blame women for it. Women blame themselves for their loss because it is not connected to the sexual act, but due to their biological cycle.
There ends up being a lot of control issues on both sides especially where sexuality is involved, men wanting to control women, and women using their sexual strength to their advantage. Men are generally more aggressive about this and we all know the results.
Emotional competence becomes a big issue as well, where people develop layers of emotional and social filters. If people can communicate on an authentic level free of cultural filters, and say what they mean then everyone will be getting somewhere.
Sexual relationships are great but emotional communication is where people eventually get stuck, and whether both people in a relationship are willing to work through the issues or it is better to move on.
May 24, 2007 at 6:38 am #22289I am not so sure about the loss of jing being a problem. I don’t see my periods as a ‘bad’ thing, but then I am not abandoned for having it, I am not looked upon as dirty.
The periods are a cleansing act of the body, not a ‘loss’. It helps women to release all the emotions and poisons they gathered during the past month. I welcome it, and I observe my periods because I know what I did in the past month effects my blood flow. That is why many women suffer during that time because all the stuff they hold in their bodies needs to be expelled, when there is a lof of unconscious stuff it can become a painfull thing. They are faced with pain they don’t bring into their awareness but the body knows and brings it to surface for them during the most effective moment, during periods.
When my mother had to let remove her uterus, it was so so clear she was no longer able to hold all the anger she had stored, the uterus became sick. They removed it and after that her body strength was diminished, she lost her power and even more she felt deep anger arise for that.
And anger for the anger she had stored due to the men in her life and now she had the pay the price, she felt deep anger because it had cost her that precious organ, and she blamed. And some years after she created heart problems and an attack because the uterus was no longer holding the anger for her, so it had to move to the one organ that is in holy connection with it, the heart. And she blamed.SO you are right if you say ‘If people can communicate on an authentic level free of cultural filters’, it is like saying ‘god is love’, of course you are right. But the fact is and reality is there that the path to that is still long.
I come to realize that the memory bank is still far beyond our ability to grasp, layers after layers, and as long there is suffering we put more of that on that bank account. Counting all the tears, silent pain and sorrow…
It never stops, so it is not enough, it never will be enough to transform all that pain-anger-fear data. No way we can sit back and rest because it is the never ending story of planet earth. I come to understand why people just ride it until the ride is over, because if you commit yourself it is eating a full plate every day, but you can learn to stretch your stomach and try to balance you don’t overeat 😉
Bon appetit, eating this lovely day of horror, and the next and the next, oh and don’t forget the night, as dessert 🙂SO, I am not a pessimist, but we are not living in Disneyland as some like to believe. The countless wars, the suffering is still very present. We are all little battle ships trying to survive in this giant universe of data, and our tiny little bodies are conductors for that data. We can not escape, although we can deny, but our cells know, feel, and suffer with the suffering of others.
Maybe if we change strategy, instead of putting effort in building yang protection shields of chi (see the analogy with star wars program of US), to protect our self from the ‘bad chi’, we might take the risk to open the heart and invite ‘suffering’.
In that sense I am open to the Buddhist and Christian tradition of mercy and compassion.
Try it, and tears will fall from your eyes, like rain from heaven.
Tears cleanse, as periods cleanse. You are right men can not have periods, but they do have tears, don’t they?May 24, 2007 at 11:28 am #22291“SO, I am not a pessimist, but we are not living in Disneyland as some like to believe.”
Is this commit directed at me? I accept the way you feel but I would like a little more clarity.
May I suggest something?
May 24, 2007 at 11:34 am #22293Not at all Dog, I was thinking of Michael Jacksons wonderland 😉
But do suggest, please…
May 24, 2007 at 6:29 pm #22295Being an alchemist and a musician, I would take a rather different view of the world. I am always faced with raw material and I am the sole deciding factor as to how it will go through that process of refining.
I LIKE TO THINK THAT TOO
A question I would ask of the “cleansing cycle” of women is, does it really get rid of the negative emotional baggage?
NOPE
I think it might be a temporary cleanse but issues may still be present unless dissolved on an energetic level.
YES
I think it is our responsibility to create the world we want, beginning on the emotional/spiritual level, and to manifest that and resonate it into the physical plane, despite the war, blind hatred and illness and everything that “happens to you”.
ABSOLUTELY
We need to birth our own reality into the world starting on the personal level before dealing with the collective. I think this happens by accepting where we are, and then changing it to what we want. If someone is ill, they have to want to get better, they have to have the will to get better for anything to happen.
WE ARE BORN IN PLACES AND UNDER CONDITIONS THAT ALLOWS US TO SPEAK AND TO THINK LIKE THAT, FOR THAT REASON WE SHOULD DO EVERYTHING TO MAKE A CHANGE FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T, WITHOUT LOSING OUT OF SIGHT THAT WE HAVE TO TAKE CARE FOR OURSELVES IN THE FIRST PLACE FIRST…BUT YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT YOU FEEL YOU NEED TO DO, AS DO I…DOING WHAT I FEEL I NEED TO DO.
My apology for the capitals, I am not screaming at you 🙂
Time to go to my silent place between heaven and earth, passing time and space, the dark time capsule called… my bed! :))
May 24, 2007 at 6:34 pm #22297I am not so sure I understand this because women are participating in politics only very recently in history. Before that they couldn’t even vote, let even express themselves, making statements or have any political power what so ever.
May 24, 2007 at 11:47 pm #22299I feel there is a little segregation going on between europe and america. I feel it is increased by the media. I saw a nice movie on brasschecktv with Amy Goodman(from Democracy Now) that illustrated this point. I was going to suggest something but I am shure you have all the tools you need..
May 25, 2007 at 6:59 am #22301Dog, it looks like you feel ‘spoken’ to, while my comments where totally in general. What is there that you feel uneasy with and why are you holding back although you want to speak. Please feel free to speak.
With some luck I consumed only 1/3 of my life, so I have another 2/3 to go, totally open to listen, adapt, change, and grow. So please your comments might shine a light I did not see yet, or was there but not spoken to…
We have the luck to have this communciation so we should use it to each others benefit.
Whenever there is ‘luck’ in our life, we must use it 🙂 this is one!And we do have a Disneyland in Europe you know 😉
May 25, 2007 at 11:49 am #22303Its my practices not to try and save people from there own lessons.. So yes I edit my self. As I tend to bark at people by nature.
May 26, 2007 at 7:06 pm #22305My wife and daughter are bellydancers and my daughter is considering it as a profession. I have had many opportunities to watch a wide variety of bellydancers and I am also struck by the co-incidences between the two. I have a goal to develop a qigong for bellydancers, to make explicit the implicit connections between the two: Belly qigong. My daughter’s instructor will be opening a studio in Madison, WI soon. I have spoken with her about developing a form and teaching at her studio. She was very excited about the concept.
