G’day, I’m new to the site and am enjoying all the interesting previous posts.
I have a question about Motivation in Life. It seems over the last few years I’ve become very unmotivated to do much of anything, with average energy and a don’t care attitude. I love reading spirtual texts but am not motivated by much else.
Is there a general TCM/Qi Gong explanation for this? What would you prescribe to someone like myself as far a a Qi gong style I could do or even a plan of action to take?

Well, you can’t be too unmotivated if you are here and looking forward to the Qi Gong ๐ Maybe it is good to learn to be more gentle with yourself?
Anyhoo – it would take someone much more learned than I to provide the explanation that you seek but would suggest that, if you were interested in correcting your perceived lack of motivation rather than analysing the reason for its existance; perhaps diet may contribute and that maybe a little bit of meditation each day to create a habitual routine of taking time out for yourself will assist with your motivation levels. If you can factor these things in daily then it may be that little by little your motivation will increase and before you know it your lack of motivation will be but a distant memory…I will keep my fingers crossed for you! Overtime as you feel more able then add additional exercises and the such in. (This would be the way I would tackle it).
Also, to explain, in the above paragraph it wasn’t my intention to dismiss your desire to examine and understand on some level your feelings of lack of motivation but that, in my experience, knowing the reasons why haven’t often offered me any more clarity in finding a way to help myself. This is just my experience, however ๐

I would start by asking myself: “What do I want?”
If your answer is, “I want to be motivated,” then the next question is: “What for?” What will being motivated give you? What do you want?Emelgee is correct in suggesting to you not to analyze but to be open. The “why” will come as you work out the feelings. I would just stay out of my head about this.
What are you feeling (emotionally) instead of motivation, whatever motivation means? Sometimes we are just done with things the way they are and we don’t know what to ask for next. Challenge yourself. Let it be alright that you don’t know and are not doing anything and see how that feels to you. Make the emptiness a practice by being aware of it. Smile to it all. Sometimes it’s best to just wait for the grass to grow than to try to make it happen.

PS on Primordial: For someone “unmotivated,” Primordial is a very telling thing to begin. It is quite a deep practice. Something inside you must be moving you somewhere, even if “you” do not know where.
