Classifying emotions of positive and negative gives the answer. It’s just like saying anger does not damage the liver, only excess anger does. Can you hear the lust screaming inside of you, waiting for the eyes to feast on something? It is not just eyes, it is the feeling, the sound, OH the pleasures. Does that not sound to you like something negative?
May 8, 2006 at 2:52 am #13584I thought that since you were promoting lust, you must have had plenty of lustful thoughts inside. I dind’t mean anything bad, sorry.
Kind apologies,
FajinMay 8, 2006 at 4:31 am #13586Hi there,
“You read my words and then make a conclusion about me, who is being judgemental?”
Fajin, conclusions are not always judgments. I am exploring with you.
“Just because I am a martial artist, does that mean that I use control?”
It means that you are invested in controlling. Martial arts are about fighting. Fighting is about fear. One sees “opponents” whom one must control. Try being powerless.
The energy I feel from you is somewhat angry. I feel that I have made you defensive which was not my intent, although I wondered if it were inevitable. I do not perceive you as an essentially playful person, but as a very serious one. This is how it FEELS to me as I read your words about many things. This is not a judgment, but an observation.
“Did Zhang, Sanfeng use control?”
I do not know what his motives were when he was “fighting.” I doubt anyone really knows this. But it is clear that his path led him way beyond fighting.
>>That’s your opinion. Life created lust too.<>And what if that isn’t the only desire? What do you do then?<>So, what? That part of you wants something. It wants to be fulfilled and completed. Are you going to love it or hate it?<>How do you know WHY Jonathon has been going through what he has been going through?
“Because he mentioned that he gets turned on as soon as he sees, for example, on the internet skin, legs, sexy things, etc. he just has a huge craving for girls. This is lust. He said what he’s been going through.”
Yes. But no one really knows WHY any of that is going on. There is a lot of supposition here. The answers to that are at a much deeper level.
“I am only saying things as they are. For example, by saying anger is related to the liver and it injures the liver, is that a judgement too?”
In this case, I think so. Not all anger injures the liver. Some anger motivates you to move. Anger is “the liver” (the one who wants to “live,” maybe?) wanting to change something it doesn’t like while not knowing how to and feeling powerless. But if you listen to your anger without judging it as wrong for being there…
Also, you tend to couch things in terms of “it” and “the liver” when these are parts of you. To call a part of you “it” separates you from yourself, divides you against yourself.
“Lust is the same.”
So what?
I think even Max or Bagua will agree with me on this.”
They don’t have anything to do with this.
“I have flaws and vulnerbilities like everyone else, but if I see them, then i will try to correct them, I won’t leave them.”
That’s exactly what I am talking about. You see what you think is wrong with you and you want to correct “them” instead of being accepting. Vulnerabilities are a good thing. They make you sensitive and compassionate. Your words say they are a bad thing. See what I mean?
“I am a growing person, I improve daily. Remember, it’s daily decrease, not daily increase, hack away the unessentials.”
“Hacking” at yourself is not going to do it. Water only what you want to grow (don’t water what you don’t want to grow) and save yourself the energy of all that hacking.
“I do agree that I will change when I practice the higher alchemical formulas and astrologically I am fire.”
Yes. You’ll change into more of what you really are. The nature of fire in astrology in its highest expression is about exploring and playing (Aries), self-expression and receiving love (Leo), and questing and visioning (Sag).
“I know you are saying this to help me, but it does sound quite judgemental, Alexander.”
I assure you, Fajin, I have a lot of warm feelings for you as I am like you, just older.
“Being a warrior is to not be afraid of yourself, the battle is with yourself.
This is it! The center of it- It is NOT a battle. That is just your way of seeing it at the moment. Battles happen because there are two sides trying to control one another. This is the outpicturing of the extreme polarization of yin and yang in this world. Our work is to cultivate the middle pole: Not right, not wrong, just IS.
“Knowing yourself is enlightenment.”
Knowing your Self is enlightenment.
“Only through self-disciple will you achieve self-control.”
Bzzzzzzzzt! Wrong. Only through compassion will you achieve self-control. When all parts are loved they are satisfied, fulfilled and completed. They get what they were wanting when they were fighting for something. Then, there is no more fighting, there is peace, and NO NEED for control because everyone is now getting what they wanted in the first place.
“I try not be hard on myself, I shoot for wu-wei in life.”
Yes, a gentle approach. Balance your fire with water and flow with things. What is the opposite of gravity?
One final thing:
“Can you hear the lust screaming inside of you, waiting for the eyes to feast on something? It is not just eyes, it is the feeling, the sound, OH the pleasures. Does that not sound to you like something negative?”
Here it really sounds like you have fear of your own feelings getting the better of you and so you want to control them before they control you.
These are deep issues everyone has. You don’t have to go out and DO everything you feel. But you do have to accept those feelings and the inner beings who have them. Give them some room and see what you can do to learn what those parts really want. That way the energy can go in a healthy direction naturally without force. That’s wu-wei.
This has been fun!
What should we talk about next?Aloha, Alexander
May 8, 2006 at 6:29 am #13588Hide behind Fajins back…. we like to hear YOU! 🙂
May 8, 2006 at 9:58 am #13590Thanks for the kind words. Nice to hear that you do not fear. I am not psykick so I was not saying you do fear. I was just giving a prospective.
May 8, 2006 at 2:57 pm #13592Hi Alexander,
OK, we can play this game. I hope we can get somewhere.
>>It means that you are invested in controlling. Martial arts are about fighting. Fighting is about fear. One sees “opponents” whom one must control. Try being powerless.

I do not perceive you as an essentially playful person, but as a very serious one. This is how it FEELS to me as I read your words about many things. This is not a judgment, but an observation.<>Makes no difference. It exists. The question is still: Are you going to love yourself for having any feelings you THINK are BAD, or, are you going to judge them, in yourself and others, and try to go around them or obliterate that part of yourself?<>First of all, freedom is a byproduct of the real goal- wholeness which is completion. Freedom is great, but it implies freedom from something. Wholeness is the positive way of saying that and inner alchemy does speed the evolutionary process. But HOW does it do that?
I believe that free will is not the point. Nature is not looking to create “free will” beings. She’s looking to create beings of wholeness, and free will happens to come with the package.<>Also, you tend to couch things in terms of “it” and “the liver” when these are parts of you. *I am not scared of the battle within myself. That's the secret of being a warrior. Is to not be scared of that. I have learned this many times over. Thank you for your consideration.

May 9, 2006 at 5:47 am #13596I would not mind hearing what others think about me. Alexander, Wendy, Bagua, Max, you, or anyone may explore with me. We can play together! Oh the fun!!!

and increase our immortal chi.-A
May 10, 2006 at 6:19 am #13600May 10, 2006 at 9:28 am #13602You really think that I’m that serious, do you? I guess if you met me in person you would know how I am. I saw your bio, I googled it. We have something in common, we are both artists. I think we may understand each other along these lines, don’t ya think?
Metta, smiles from the heart, in the Dao, regards, etc.
FajinMay 11, 2006 at 5:13 am #13604Hello Fajin,
I was not referring solely to you when I wrote those last lines. And, yes, there is no doubt in my mind as to your being serious. That’s why I asked you in a previous message, “What is the opposite of gravity?”
Originally, I wanted to point out that judgment is not a path to resolve and since you happened to be the one doing the judging at the time I called you on it. Also, I did say that I felt we had a similarity, so I was also picking on myself. I have strong feelings about this issue due to much personal experience with it and since you are a cultivator of self (which is my definition of artist) I decided to offer what I was moved strongly to offer, though you had not asked for it, figuring you might be able to use it.
There are things I said in those messages which you did not want to address and I will not press you with them. Perhaps you will reread our exchanges at some point and see them differently.
To round out the picture of me a bit, the info you got on me from the internet is very partial. It was written specifically as an “art bio” for White Cloud. I think of myself as a “New Age Renaisance Person” with a primary focus on what Daoism refers to as “completion” in both a personal and global sense.
What does “metta” mean?
Blessings, Alexander
