I recently added the following note to the bottom of SBiel’s post on Dr. Lin’s method. Thought I’d post it here, cause I noticed the topic came up some little while ago.
“Some people take the discovery of the sexual energy ~ sacrum connection to mean that one should never practice pubococcygeal (pc, perineum) exercises, and I believe that conclusion to be a big mistake. PC exercises keep the perineum vital, toned, healthy, massage the prostate, allow blood and qi to flow through the area more freely, and so provide a better basis for activating hui yin.
The sexual energy ~ sacrum connection doesn’t exclude the PC exercise altogether, only diminishes its emphasis during sex, in favor of more relaxed hui yin activation and more vigorous engagement of the sacrum. PC exercises are definitely still a very important part of an unaroused practice regime, and still occasionally useful during sex.”

I disagree with contracting the PC muscles. Saying that contracting the PC muscles is just like saying one should lift weights with a barbell because he will increase blood circulation and stay fit and prevent arthritis.
I agree that one should massage the area and breath with the urogenital diaphragm lowering up and down which also shoots for the same purpose, but contracting the area and building up the muscles will slow down qi circulation in the area. I have been doing that for quite a while and I know, because I found it harder to distinguish between contracting the sacrum-tailbone and PC which was a big trouble during sexual practice.
Again, massage, lower orbit, urogenital, are way better than contracting it.

FajinApril 4, 2006 at 1:11 pm #12350I don’t know about pc exercises, but being able to RELAX the whole pelvic floor ( i.e just let it drop if you’re standing, that direction ) makes a vital difference to one’s state of sexual arousal.
It doesn’t channel anything anywhere, that i noticed, but provides an immediate change from explosive/excited to relaxed and aware. This male, at least, finds it astonishingly effective.
Especially if combined with conscious jaw and eye release.
I dare say pc exercises are useful for this in so far as they bring awareness to the area. I don’t know much about them otherwise.
