… I think I already answered this a few posts back and also in my recent posts in general. I am not sure how I can “use” a cosmology! What I do is work and then see what happens, from this I get understanding of what others *say* about the cosmos.
So far as I understand yin and yang they relate to electric/magnetic and fire/water, which are certainly things I work with. Yuan there appears to be some controversy about, but if it does relate to the first two as aleph relates to mem and shin in kabbalah, then I certainly get that and it’s central to what I’m doing. ‘Shen’ seems to relate roughly to what I call ‘spirit’. What Michael calls the energy body I also call the energy body or the ‘soul’. There is some disagreement (or has been anyway) about the nature of ‘yi’ as it relates to western practice. ‘Zhi’ I don’t know anything about. ‘Hun’ and ‘Po’ may be too specialist to taoism for me to ‘use’/understand but might also relate (if I understand them at all) to yin and yang tendencies in the soul body which I call (after Victor H. Anderson) ‘alpha and beta’ bodies respectively, and relate to earth moon and sun in my practice.
But I’ve talked here and there at some length already about what I “use”! Don’t you hear me talking all the time about the nature of the soul and spirit, nature of electric and magnetic, four elements…. I talk about those here because in some sense they correspond to the things used in taoism as far as I gather. I’ve talked on my blog before also about left right and central channels and how they relate to egypt and kabbalah. I’ve mentioned Iamblichus, Bardon, neoplatonism in general, Hermetic scriptures, and I’ve just reproduced for you Fludd’s famous diagram of the microcosm and macrocosm, which contains all of the above if you look at it, plus alot more. So I hope you have enough to go on there? 🙂 j
October 31, 2007 at 1:01 pm #25447There is no Yin-Yang, there is only Yin/Yuan/Yang.
Life is whole, never separate.
October 31, 2007 at 5:20 pm #25449I know that there is only yin/yuan/yang my question is do you think yin and yang is birth from yuan or that yin and yang where birthed from wuji. I am interested in your view of one giving birth to two, two giving birth to three.
October 31, 2007 at 6:17 pm #25451Wu Ji creates Yin-Yuan-Yang, there are always together, some just say Yin-Yang.
One gives life to two, but one is in the two, two gives birth to three, but one is there too. Wu Ji is in two, three, four, five, six, etc. The one is in every manifestion of life and this includes you.
