It seems so much of the taoist formulas for “enlightenment” are simply ways to listen to the body and relax deeper. Even in martial arts, it seems relaxation is the master key to healing and spiritual awareness.
So, how does relaxation work into sex? What is it like to have sex while deep in relaxation? Is that cosmic sex as opposed to sex in which people are breating relatively shallow? How does this work!?
October 6, 2005 at 5:30 am #7981How can you be hard when you’re being soft? 🙂
October 6, 2005 at 5:39 pm #7983I understand this point you are making, but still, it does not make sense to me…before having “cosmic sex” with a girl I would think it would be important to get deeply relaxed, calm, centered, grounded, whole? What? What are the prereqs? Healing sounds could do it? perhaps?
October 6, 2005 at 7:33 pm #7985Arousal is saposed to be connected to the parasympathetic (relax), no? And then orgasm is sympathetic (not relaxed)?
October 6, 2005 at 8:24 pm #7987There were apparently ancient daoist rituals involving sex that look incredibly relaxed, and boring. And one could make an argument that by seeking to harness the energy of sex daoists were not at all concerned with things like pleasure, and therefore having proper sex from a daoist/alchemical perspective had little to do with going all night long or even to giving pleasure to yourself or your partner, and much more to do with manipulating energy through meditative and other practices.
I tend to reject that argument, if for no other reason than Im not willing to give up all that sexual pleasure that as a 21st century western male Ive been told is my birthright.
So, I think the primary thing to remember about sex is that we are animals, that animals f–k, and that’s why we have sex.
I’m not trying to be flippant. My point is that sex is a very earthy, physical, primary, animalistic drive that is hard wired into our very natures.
Sex that acknowledges this origin and that is in tune with this natural drive rather than fights against it, is by definition a passionate and physical activity.
And any passionate and physical activity will get your respiration going.
Yes, you can be more “relaxed” and work with your breath during sex, etc. And the daoist (i.e., Chia) sex practices do mess a bit with the natural drive in that they look to prevent the very thing that leads to procreation — ejaculation — which is the whole point of the innate sex drive.
But, to me, if “daoist” sex (mantak chia style) means anything it means being present in the moment, and that moment is — or should be — a pretty wild ride.
October 15, 2005 at 3:19 am #7989Sex is for evolution and reproduction. Chia sex does promote non ejactulation. But, of course, ejaculation is very pleasurable–feeling the chi travel through your urethra…Injaculation can be equaly or more I find, but take meditation skills (healing sounds, orbits, smiles, massage/theory at LEAT) a.k.a.:
“But, to me, if “daoist” sex (mantak chia style) means anything it means being present in the moment, and that moment is — or should be — a pretty wild ride.”
So back to my question, I would say that the answer is yes and no. Self intercourse is along the lines of meditation/relaxation while dual cultivation is not to reach a level of relaxation DURING the act but, perhaps, encourage one/supply energy to acheive such a deep meditation when NOT having sex…
This is all in theory, of course, as I have not yet has “cosmic sex.”
