AnonymousI feel attracted to these beads but don’t know if they would jive with the daoist style of things.
For example, I have no idea what the correlate of Lord Shiva would be in Taoist Cosmology (if there is one).
Any reason I shouldn’t wear one of these necklaces?
Any advice for a different energetic tool that would be more compatible with the HealingTao path?
Thanks folks.

Folks draw on multiple sources all the time.Way back when I first got involved in Healing Tao, I wore a labradorite necklace, because I felt I had too many psychic vampires attacking me and I had no boundaries. A few years later, when I strengthened my boundaries, I felt it to be no longer necessary and I quit wearing it. [actually, I quit wearing it when it suddenly broke, but when it broke, I realized I didn’t need it anymore, so didn’t replace it :)]

AnonymousFebruary 21, 2016 at 8:46 am #46094David T. Riley dreamt big. His desire to be a superstar recording artist led the adolescent hoodlum into the fringes of organized crime. Ironically though, it was a failed extortion attempt at the Coral Gables bus station that landed him in jail where he found his calling in June of 1960. When the CIA needed recruits to carry out dangerous spying missions to Cuba, their Ivy League educated agents would rather not do themselves, they found Riley languishing in a light green jumpsuit in Miami Dade County Jail awaiting trial. Street-smart, confident to the point of being cocky and extremely intelligent, the Agency believed hed be able to talk his way out of any situation. Trained by the Feds to operate in a complex world of international crime, David became one of the Agency’s top operatives. The CIAs use for him eventually waned, and with skills learned through covert work, Riley afforded himself an extensive career in gunrunning, drug dealing, fraud and embezzlement. Maybe you were the only survivor when a bloodthirsty warlord annihilated your village and you’re bent on revenge. Maybe you’ve just watched a lot of anime. It’s okay, we won’t ask. The point is, you’re a ninja and you need stuff. Not just any stuff, though: extremely awesome stuff. That’s where we come in. Welcome to AllNinjaGear.com.
-http://allninjagear.com/Sorry but I would be very careful with this kind of religious objects.
My suggestion is to have only practical tools instead of symbolic implements.
For example for japa one’s own finger joints are much better than mala (Sanskrit:माला; mālā, meaning garland).

February 21, 2016 at 10:12 am #46096Is it the tree fault that they put it in the religion and made legends out of it?
Is its essence and energy worse because of that. If some religion worships quartz, does that means we shouldn’t use it (which is impossible anyway) 🙂
I think Rudraksha is a plant first and another child of nature before being anything else.February 22, 2016 at 12:44 am #46098
AnonymousI tend to agree with what Viktor is saying, as a general rule for approaching things like this.
I appreciate your perspective, C_Howdy.
Do believe that there is no inherent energetic quality which makes the Rudraksha useful?
To be clear, I am not interested in their religious associations (apart from mere curiosity).
My concern is that there is simply something I am completely unaware of that would make them incompatible with the specific path of the HealingTao. I am new to energy work and aware of my ignorance.
My desire is to be grounded, progress wisely, and move with balance.
February 22, 2016 at 1:53 am #46100Hi Little One,
Let me give you some more details . . .
The main issue is the five-element support you get from such a necklace. The external object resonates with your five-element matrix and augments it based on its material.
In particular, the Rudraksha comes from a tree, so it likely would amplify your wood energy. The same could be said for cotton, etc. This could be useful if you tend toward wood deficiency. Symptoms of this would be lack of motivation/goals.
Necklaces made out of metal, will amplify metal element. Good if you have breathing difficulties, or if you feel you need more structure/routine in your life.
Necklaces made out of stones tend to bring earth element into balance.
They tend to be grounding for this same reason. Most grounding would be non-crystal rocks.Crystals tend to be grounding with a slight fire element aspect to them, with fire element aspect increasing the more translucent and the more “high-energy stone” they are. Just like actual fire, usually small doses are very potent, so I’d tend to avoid a high fire-element necklace (even if you needed fire) such as a high-energy stone necklace like moldavite, phenakite, or Auralite-23, except for very short periods. Too much fire opens third-eye, but melts metal, so earth gets exhausted to compensate and causes ungrounding effect.
The labradorite necklace I wore, strengthened my earth element, and the slight fire element aspect helped to radiate out the earth boundaries to block psychic vampire attacks. It was also a stress-reliever as the fire helped drain excess wood, which gets aggravated under stress. Also, when it sits on the thymus gland, it boosts the immune system, which I found supportive for health-building. Labradorite is particularly good at immune system boosting and wood-draining.
So really the effects of any necklace you choose is really most dependent upon the material that it is made out of. Any religious meaning behind a particular necklace is fairly meaningless, unless you yourself attribute a meaning to it. Hope that helps.

AnonymousThat was extremely helpful.
Also, while I’m here, thanks for all your posts, in general. They are making a major impact on my journey.
Specifically, your emphasis on grounding resonates with me deeply and has led me to precisely where I’ve needed to go.
Peace and love,
Geoffrey

Qi,
StevenFebruary 23, 2016 at 1:01 pm #46106Just curious what element does plastic correlate with? Thinking this as I am wearing a polyester shirt that carries a lot of static cling… Because it is typically comes from hydrocarbons which are from the earth made of decomposed matter, would it be earth?
February 23, 2016 at 8:18 pm #46108Plastic is actually metal element, albeit very sickly.
Like actual metal, it has been removed from the earth, refined, and processed.
It’s the next development in the creation cycle after earth.
When stretched thin in translucent form, it’s “airy” quality is more apparent. The metal energy it has though is very sickly and weak, in comparison to actual metal. It’s more akin to gray clouds that build up static charge rather than acting as a healthy conductor in healthy metal. In the same fashion, the energetic color of plastic is a sickly toxic gray.
But the fact that it is sickly weak energy should be no surprise, as it is an overly processed synthetic. Consequently, wearing plastic (say in the form of clothing) acts as a drain on your personal energy. Since it doesn’t have much healthy vibration of its own, it draws energy from what it is in contact with. So if that contact is you, you form a short-term food supply of elemental energy for it. You feed it your metal (and other energy), rather than it feeding you. It’s why plastic can make people feel tired.
The only good news is, is that the longer you wear the same clothes, the more they hold your vibration and have a healthier vibration in correspondence with you. That old shirt feels familiar and comfortable because of the history that you’ve given it. Still, materials that are more natural are much better, because they actually support you, rather than you needing to do the unconscious energy work to bring them into resonance with you.

March 14, 2016 at 10:08 am #46112http://phys.org/news/2016-03-newly-bacteria-plastic-bottles.html
March 11, 2016 by Deborah Netburn, Los Angeles Times
A team of Japanese scientists has found a species of bacteria that eats the type of plastic found in most disposable water bottles.
The discovery, published Thursday in the journal Science, could lead to new methods to manage the more than 50 million tons of this particular type of plastic produced globally each year.
The plastic found in water bottles is known as polyethylene terephthalate, or PET. It is also found in polyester clothing, frozen-dinner trays and blister packaging.
“If you walk down the aisle in Wal-Mart you’re seeing a lot of PET,” said Tracy Mincer, who studies plastics in the ocean at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts.Part of the appeal of PET is that it is lightweight, colorless and strong. However, it has also been notoriously resistant to being broken down by microbes-what experts call “biodegradation.”
Previous studies had found a few species of fungi can grow on PET, but until now, no one had found any microbes that can eat it.
To find the plastic-eating bacterium described in the study, the Japanese research team from Kyoto Institute of Technology and Keio University collected 250 PET-contaminated samples including sediment, soil and wastewater from a plastic bottle recycling site.
Next they screened the microbes living on the samples to see whether any of them were eating the PET and using it to grow. They originally found a consortium of bugs that appeared to break down a PET film, but they eventually discovered that just one of bacteria species was responsible for the PET degradation. They named it Ideonella sakainesis.
Further tests in the lab revealed that it used two enzymes to break down the PET. After adhering to the PET surface, the bacteria secretes one enzyme onto the PET to generate an intermediate chemical. That chemical is then taken up by the cell, where another enzyme breaks it down even further, providing the bacteria with carbon and energy to grow.
The researchers report that a community of Ideonella sakaiensis working this way could break down a thin film of PET over the course of six weeks if the temperature were held at a steady 86 degrees Fahrenheit.Mincer said the study was impressive and did a good job showing that these organisms were eating the plastic pretty well. However, he said it was not immediately clear whether or not it would help keep plastics out of the ocean, for example.
“When I think it through, I don’t really know where it gets us,” he said. “I don’t see how microbes degrading plastics is any better than putting plastic bottles in a recycling bin so they can be melted down to make new ones.”
He added that the research could make it easier to identify other microbes that might have similar PET-degrading capabilities.
“This process could be quite common,” he said. “Now that we know what we are looking for, we may see these microbes in many areas around the world.” -
