what is the place of love in taoism? including many different types of love…. personal/relational love, and is there a universal love concept or experience in taoism?
June 10, 2013 at 1:48 pm #40836The whole Healing Tao curriculum has this as its underlying substrate.
From the very first practice of the Inner Smile, which is about self-love
and unconditional acceptance of all that is . . . to the physical/sexual love in the Healing Love course . . . to the psycho-spiritual sexual attempts to experience love in the Kan and Li coursework . . . culminating in the Heaven-and-Earth alchemy course where you go straight to the Tai Yi (great oneness), source of all love or Central Sun.
In other words, its the whole coursework. Each course explores it in different ways.In terms of Daoist philosophy, the whole concept of unconditional acceptance and alignment with the Tao, is at its core, love. Love is nothing more, nothing less, than the desire to remove separation. And this is really what is being talked about when you read descriptions of aligning with the Tao, merging with the Tao. This is the goal of every Daoist.

September 8, 2013 at 4:41 am #40842The consequences of the 1 November coup d’état will be contrary to the calculations of the U.S. imperialists … Diệm was one of the strongest individuals resisting the people and Communism. Everything that could be done in an attempt to crush the revolution was carried out by Diệm. Diệm was one of the most competent lackeys of the U.S. imperialists … Among the anti-Communists in South Vietnam or exiled in other countries, no one has sufficient political assets and abilities to cause others to obey. Therefore, the lackey administration cannot be stabilized. The coup d’état on 1 November 1963 will not be the last.
-MARK MOYAR, Triumph Forsaken: The Vietnam War, 19541965Spiritual insight. The brotherhood of man is, after all, predicated on the recognition of the fatherhood of God. The quickest way to realize the brotherhood of man on Urantia is to effect the spiritual transformation of present-day humanity. The only technique for accelerating the natural trend of social evolution is that of applying spiritual pressure from above, thus augmenting moral insight while enhancing the soul capacity of every mortal to understand and love every other mortal. Mutual understanding and fraternal love are transcendent civilizers and mighty factors in the world-wide realization of the brotherhood of man.
-The Urantia Book, (52:6.5)Religion has at one time or another sanctioned all sorts of contrary and inconsistent behavior, has at some time approved of practically all that is now regarded as immoral or sinful. Conscience, untaught by experience and unaided by reason, never has been, and never can be, a safe and unerring guide to human conduct. Conscience is not a divine voice speaking to the human soul. It is merely the sum total of the moral and ethical content of the mores of any current stage of existence; it simply represents the humanly conceived ideal of reaction in any given set of circumstances.
-The Urantia Book, (92:2.6)People lack the proper tools to help them focus their chi or concentrate their spirit in one centre. That leads us to seek the religion or spiritual path of our choice in the hope that a God or power beyond us will help us. Tai Chi for Enlightenment is compatible with any religious belief.
People used to be worried that yoga was a weird eastern religion, and now its is commonly taught in Christian church centres. Some Western fundamentalists have tried to demonise Taoism, but that will also fade away as people learn about spiritual science. Taoists in China accept all religions as carrying valid truth for their believers. Tao is neutral and natural. It is simply the “Way” our inner self unfolds. In China it is common to hear a Buddhist or a Confucianism to say that they follow the Tao. My first Taoist teacher, Mantak Chia, is also a Christian; his mother was a minister. He is both Taoist and Christian…about 800 years ago Chang San Feng was the founder of the original Tai Chi Chuan 13-movement form for self-defense. It was a gentle form focused on the yielding principles of the Tao, so monks could defend themselves from bandits without falling into aggressive killing techniques that would spoil their spiritual path.
-MICHAEL WINN, Invite a Magical Flow into your Life(an article explaining Tai Chi for Enlightenment)Nothing can temper the spirit of a warrior as much as the challenge of dealing with impossible people in positions of power. Only under those conditions can warriors acquire the sobriety and serenity to stand the pressure of the unknowable.
The perfect ingredient for the making of a superb seer is a petty tyrant with unlimited prerogatives. Seers have to go to extremes to find a worthy one. Most of the time they have to be satisfied with very small fry. Then warriors develop a strategy using the four attributes of warriorship: control, discipline, forbearance, and timing.
-CARLOS CASTANEDA, The Fire from WithinSur l’oreiller du mal c’est Satan Trismégiste
Qui berce longuement notre esprit enchanté,
Et le riche métal de notre volonté
Est tout vaporisé par ce savant chimiste.
C’est le Diable qui tient les fils qui nous remuent!
Aux objets répugnants nous trouvons des appas;
Chaque jour vers l’Enfer nous descendons d’un pas,
Sans horreur, à travers des ténèbres qui puent.
-CHARLES BAUDELAIRE, Au Lecteur à partir de Les Fleurs du malSorry again here I think it’s very important to become aware how one makes decisions.
So develop those faculties with which one decides what is right or what is wrong.
It should be practical matter also in my opinion.
And from any individual point of view reasons to act this or that way can be difficult or totally impossible to understand or accept for somebody else…
