Premise: the tittle is the massage.
The text of work is the means ensuring better endurance in time. With all mind digestion focused on text, the tittle might survive better.1. Tao te ching
Offered translation: The book of the vitue and the way
However:
Tao=unknown=Mistery
Ching=known=Substance
Te=Virtue
Tao and Ching are two realms. Te is connecting them like tunderbolst connect sky and earth. Thus Te is the way between heaven and earth, the way of heaven and earth
So:
Te=Virtue=Way
So the translations are then:
TheMisteryTheWayTheSubstance
or to include idea of book: The book of misterious way2. Dharma challenge
Pali: Dhamma-chakka-pavattana sutta
Dhamma-chakkappavattana
Other:
Sanscrit:Dharmacakra pravartana sutra
Tibetan: Dharmachakra perwatengLeadbeater claims chakra comes from chakka.
Dhamma=Dharma=Law=!
Sutra=Saying=””
So simplified notation is:
“chakka-pavattana!”
“chakkappavattana!”
“cakra pravartana!”
“chakra perwateng!”Cha=six
Chakka=set of six
cakra=wheel, spoke
It is not very evident how cakra derives from chakka.pa-vatta-na=pro-being in motion, turning the wheel, vrtta, vrtti-verb
pravartana=change in vietnamise
Guessing:
vatta= subtles substance in hindu; so:
pa-vatta-na=similar,related, but different-subtles substance-verb
juan chi(simplification)= subtler than the subtles substance (the coarser has its own name)This gives three interpretations, in chinese frame:
“six dan tiens!”=”central channel!” (set of six; change)
“dan tien!” (wheel; change)
“dan tien & juan chi!” (wheel; chage; guessing)March 29, 2005 at 8:59 am #3756Thanks for the efforts at breaking down the words themselves and not taking them at the face value offered by others.
This offers another vision of the title the Tao Te Ching as a formula in and of itself. Now my inner inquiry will be around “virtue” as it is the manifesting force of the Unknown.
I wonder what associations you would have with that word? Here is what the dictionary comes up with.
1)The quality of doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong
2)Any admirable quality or attribute
3)Morality with respect to sexual relations
4)A particular moral excellence
I am not that versed in the taoist/English energetic speak to have much association with “Te”. In a balanced state it feels like I can embody virtue, as a reflection of who I am in my core. This is the closest I can come to understanding it. It isn’t a mental precept to be grasped at but a native experience to be liberated? baba

Word on other side. Word on all planes.Understand I am very mental. And because of habit of hiding my true self do not have much experience.
March 30, 2005 at 10:21 pm #3760How about the use of the word virtue from the western alchemists and healers when they talk about the virtue of a given herb, stone, or metal, or planet for that matter. In that sense I think of virtue as a quality. So maybe virtue can be thought of the power to manifest physically what we are qualitatively in our core.
