So if I follow, the parts do not have meaning apart from seeing the unity of the integrated whole, but the whole can be decieving because one also needs to look at it’s parts.

Chinese philosophy is about how things influence each other. Its Yin-Yang, not Yin and Yang. Its what happens when things come together. Isn’t this the very nature of the alchemy formulas. We look at parts and we look at what happens as they mix. its the interaction we analysis, anything less than this is dabbling.
I’m going to stick to a weak day master always pushing the balance towards more wealth.

I really dont know what you mean here.Isn’t it always true with the five elements that when a controlling element is weak, it’s “grandchild” expands?
***********************
Depends. Because they all must be viewed together.
In your example.Water controls Fire, if there is alot of Earth, Fire wont expand due to the Earth draining it. And it must have support to grow.
As you know they are really called five phases, they are part of a phase, not individual components, they can not be taken away from the whole.
But here is a related question: if a day master is weak, and the wealth element is strong, and “wealth” does in fact “run rampant,” because the day master grandparent element is not strong enough to control it, what would that look like, practically speaking?
**********************
This is not really Chinese astrology. You are focusing on a minor aspect of astrology. Its the 10-gods, branch combinations, transformations, 12-stage growth cycle, 10-year cycles, Roots, etc. All these must be considered to do a professional analysis.
The elemental percentages you look at are not the true story. You are using the word Wealth, it comes from the 10-gods, you must put it in that theory to get at how it shows itself. Sometimes what you see as elemental percentages has no root, other elements of less percentages do and they can have a stronger influence in certain ways.

So here is the real issue. Judgement against my “dabbling” in Chinese astrology.
Well, I’ll just point out that “looking” is yang and a masculine relationship to knowledge and reality. It represents light and consciousness’s interaction with the whole. Your judgement against my “dabbling” could be an unconscious suppression of and resistance to the feminine power of knowing and relating to the whole, namely intuition and intuitive abilities to “know” the whole and the parts rather than “see” them.
